  • Silouhettes from Main Street.........

Just wondering how many collectors out there might have a silhouette from Main Street of Walt and Mickey together. I was fortunate to get one a while back, done by Harry Brice, and it is proudly hanging on my wall. This I would have to consider a hard to find Disney collectible.

Well...I got one too. And signed by 'ol Harry. He gave it to me shortly before he retired (though at the time I didn't know he was retiring). Which was extremely nice of him, as I really didn't personally know him very well at all. Guess I walked though his shop enough times just saying, "Hi Harry!" to do the trick.

From the Opus Archives and 1989...Here's Harry!

I know he did Mickeys and Minnies fairly often. But the Walts with Mickey...yeah...those are probably pretty rare.

Wow, what a great article. I wonder if he did *my* silhouette. I was about 8, so that would've been '75, '76... I would love to have a Walt/Mickey silhouette to put on the wall with my kids.

Thanks for sharing that article Opus1Guy, I really appreciate that. When I was working at Arribas Bros. in 1984 I had the opp to meet hims and chat with him everyday I was working. He also made some comical note pads for me as well. It was his little side business. I still have those today.

I had mine done 2 weeks ago by this gal (whose name escapes me at the moment). She's been doing them for 32 years at DL, and she is now the longest silouette artist since Harry retired. She was SO sweet and it was a slow morning at DL. I was alone, so, we chatted for quite a while. What a neat lady. I had her do mine with Mickey since I was at the park alone that day.

A great article. Our family has some from the 70's and then updated ones periodically after that.
