  • Songs About Disneyland

I've been downloading some songs on iTunes lately, and have come across quite a few that are about Disneyland.

The one I was just listening to is by the Smugglers (alternative-style) and has me cracking up:

    DEATH AT DISNEYLAND
Well c'mon now baby along with me
it's an invitation to a happy dream
we'll swing from vines like Doctor Jones
and stumble through a pirate's bones
But there's a lot of water in this cheery place
and whirlpools follow in the Columbia's wake
shots have been fired in the parking lot,
well it's all just part of Walt's Masonic plot

    Death! Death At Disneyland (chorus)

The People Mover's crushed the skull of many a guest
and Space Mountain gives aways free heart attacks
it's a Tragic Kingdom with Fatal Attractions
and Disney always dodges any legal action
But let's face you had a really great day,
up until the point where you wound up dead
"let's drop acid on It's A Small World"
Ok, but don't blame me about your spinal chord
    Go!

    (chorus)

Well I'm just waiting standing here,
    waiting in line to die
on the Materhorn and the Rocket Rod
waiting in line to die, to die.
Oh well c'mon now baby along with me
it's an invitation to a happy dream
we'll slide down a mountain in a hollow log,
and wind up dead in a murky bog
But I love this place and all it gives,
a magical place full of mysteries
and if you don't want to die meet me at my favourite stop
    that's the Enchanted Tiki Hut

    (chorus)

Have you heard any other funny and/or deranged songs about Disneyland?

Rocket Rod, hahah, that song dates itself!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

This is my favorite DLR related song.

          By DaDa

          Dizz Knee Land

"I just ran away from home
Now I'm going to dizz knee land
I just crashed my car again
Now I'm going to dizz knee land
I just robbed a grocery store
I'm going to dizz knee land
I just flipped off President George
I'm going to dizz knee land
I just tossed a fifth of gin
Now I'm going to dizz knee land
          I just got cuffed again
Now I'm going to dizz knee land
Shot my gun into the night
I'm going to dizz knee land
I just saw a good man die
I'm going to dizz knee land
Kicked my *** out of school
Rolled me out into the street
          Hitched a ride on a monkey's back
          Headed west into the black
I'm going to dizz knee land"

There was this OC punk band in the early 90's called BHR that covered Dramarama's "Anything, Anything". One of the lyrical changes they made was, "We'll go to Disneyland just to take a piss." I still sing that line anytime I hear the song.

Just heard this on the Mousepod, sung by Ariel herself, Jodi Benson. It's from the musical Smile. The music is awesome; just reading the lyrics doesn't do it justice.

                Disneyland by Hamlisch and Ashman

Hot Sunday night, I guess the folks were busy fightin’
                Joe’d already left home.
11 years old on my own feeling nothing but lonely
There’s nothing to do, nothing out there but the traffic
                down on state 93.
So I’d sit through the night
by our old black and white TV.
And that’s when I saw it.
                That’s when I heard it.
                Calling…calling…me……

                Disneyland ...
                Magic Kingdom, Disneyland.
                Close my eyes real tight,
                wishin' hard I might,
                wishin’ hard I may
                find my way to Disneyland.
                Gotta get to Disneyland.
                On a western breeze,
                magic carpet please,
                please carry me away.

Oh, I know you’re gonna say
                the trees are paper-mache
                it’s done with mirrors
                no magic there.
Each little bird’s full of springs
you press a button it sings
                recorded music in the air.
                They’ve had the mountain refaced
                it’s only plywood and paste
                go on, say it!
I’ll turn around and tell you
                I don’t care!

                I don’t care.

                I will live in Disneyland.
                Make my home in Disneyland.
                Maybe it’s all fake
                that’s a chance I’ll take
                it’s perfectly ok.
                Some lucky day
                Disneyland
                Take me there to
                Disneyland
and when I get to Disneyland
                I’ll stay!

Does it count if they're parodies? (i.e., new Disneyland-related lyrics to pre-existing songs)

I have two songs like that on my website.

                      Re: Songs About Disneyland

Five for Fighting has one of my favorites, though I guess technically it's really not about Disneyland when you think about it...

                      Artist: Five For Fighting
                      Song: Disneyland

I Woke up got my lazy *** out of bed
I Watered all the rocks growing in my head
I Had a thought...and fell asleep on you...

There I was somewhere West of Tomorrow Land
Flying through the stars just like Peter Pan
I said...Damn this looks too good to be true...

There she goes... my heart again (would you mind rolling over)
I can feel it in the air (something's coming down)
                      I don't know and I don't care that it's a small world

It's a nice day if you wake up in Disneyland...
It's a nice day when you wake up in Disneyland...

In my dream everybody's got a little house
A dog, a bank account managed by Mickey Mouse
And the only thing we fight about is the Lakers...

In my dream all the pirates down in Neverland
Never get the Hook... they just get a hand
While the crocs sing Superman till we just can't take it...

There she goes... my heart again (do you mind rolling over)
I can feel it in the air (something's coming down)
                      I don't know and I don't care if it's a small world

It's a nice day when you wake up in Disneyland...
It's a nice day if you wake up in Disneyland...

                      We can fly away...

I Woke up got my lazy *** out of bed
I Watered all the rocks growing in my head
I Had a thought... and I looked up to see

The sign read the park she's closed today
E-tickets don't work here no more anyway
Where every day's a magic day to be free You see...

It's a nice day when you wake up in Disneyland...
It's a nice day should you wake up in Disneyland...
It's your L.U.C.K.Y. day should you wake up in Disneyland...
It's a nice day should you wake up in Disneyland...

                      ------------------- End...

Ahhh... such a nice song... I'll have to listen to it now...

Is this the one that sounds like a church hymn?

A friend put a song on a cd for me recently that
sounded like a church song and it started off really
slow and I thought it could be a sort of a slow dance love
song type... then got to talking about main street...
I'll have to ask him what the name of it is!

Late 70s/Early 80s NYC New Wave-Punk (think Talking Heads) band Come On had a song called Disneyland. Some of the lyrics were:

                            I hate Disneyland/Mickey Wouldn't shake my hand.
Mickey Mouse is a rat/Mickey Mouse is a Rat
                            .

Not the most positive song, but it's kind of catchy...

Hey, there were others in my boat

Up ahead, one of the men
he said he would be my friend
He'd guide me to the hole
If I deeded him my soul

To the hole I didn't make it
That doesn't mean he didn't take it
                              He laughed at my plight
He said you'll be one of us tonight

                              High adventure on the sea,
but it's not the life for me
Now those harry tatooed pirates are all chasing after me
I was threatened with a knife by a pirate playing fife
Now I'm sailing for my life thanks to LSD 25

He was right, I'm still here
as I have been, for over a year
With my last bit of hope,
                              a tin can and rope
I just want to break free

                              But I can't get away
                              No I can't get away
cause that damn dog's got the key
No one listens as I tell
of my ordeal in this cell

                              They stand right by
                              but they don't fell
