  • It just blows my mind there is no Lion King ride

This is BY FAR one of if not the best Disney Movie ever. I have yet to meet one person that doesn't like it. Why isn't there a ride? Disney being cheap, no room? Where would you put it? Fantasy land? Adventure land? Is there even any room to build in these areas? I also cannot believe there is no rides based on Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, 101 Dalmations, The Little Mermaid, or even Bambi! Yet something like Lelo and Stitch will probably get it's own land before any of these classics get a ride :bang:

I always envisioned a jeep ride something akin to Indy Jones, in a similar enclosed environment. Imagine the possibilities! Pride Rock and the presentation of Simba amongst the animals gathered to pay tribute...a zany blacklit splash of color and African beat with yellow skies, hard red ground and blue elephants and pink flamingoes in a huge pyramid, fire and green fog and hyenas and bones, the gorge and a whole wildebeest stampede (if Disney can pull it off, what an E-ticket that would be!), the exile forest, bugs, bugs, and lots of bugs, waterfalls, twilight skies, millions of stars, an encounter with Mufasa's ghost...more fire, smoke, rain, sunshine...
    Alright, I'll stop now.

Good question though, I had this idea for a long time and I wonder if Disney will ever utilize it.
Adventureland would be the ideal place to put it of course, but there is just no room.

There are lots of great Disney movies that we may never see turned into attractions, sadly.

The area to the right of the Indy ride must the the HM show room right? Yeah Adventure land is small...Whats behind The River? Pirates? Splash Mountian? I've only been there twice so I wouldn't really know.

*getting his trusty Disneyland park map out, NOT purchased from eBay, brought back by a friend  *

How the hell is the HM show room next to Indy? The doom buggies would have to go from the facade right all the way underneath NOS (yes the whole square) to Indy.

I am always puzzled when I see the park map and notice that massive slice of forest between Space Mountain and Main Street. WHY? :bash:

Re: It just blows my mind there is no Lion King ride

ORDDU: Walt Disney World used to have a fine attraction for THE LION KING in the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland, ducklings. It was a puppet show type re-telling of the story--complete with a bit of live action mixed with special effects and animatronic figures. It was also very popular.

ORWEN: But it was replaced by a 3D movie called Mickey's Philharmagic.

ORDDU: Movies are cheaper to create for attractions than these puppet show type attractions, which require the talent to be paid on a regular basis, so you can easily see why the 3D movie got preference over the Lion King show.

ORWEN: But, personally, we preferred the Lion King attraction over Mickey's Philharmagic.

The lion King attraction was very boring to me and most everyone seemed to ditch out from the theater during the movie portion a couple minutes into it.

Lion King just lacks that human element...

During the stampeed, they could do the effect they use in the broadway show, that makes it look like it's coming right for you! And then, you dive under it, just like indy

Because that is a major backstage area at Disneyland and it would be "bad show" to put it on a map distributed to guests.

Re: It just blows my mind there is no Lion King ride

I'm one who's not a big Lion King fan. Would it be nice to have a Lion King attraction? Maybe. But I'd much rather see something based on Mary Poppins or Sleeping Beauty (now that the Walk-Through is gone). I just don't want Lion King to become the next Winnie The Pooh or Princess thing that they try to cram down everyone's throats.

As far as the Park maps, those are artists renderings of the Parks. They're not meant to be literal maps like you would find in an atlas. Unless you're looking at an aerial photograph, you're not really seeing what's there.

                          Avenue Q

Just because it's gone doesn't mean I changed my mind! :cwink:

As others have said, there's LOTS of movies not turned into attractions.

Oh and I'd like to introduce myself, I'm O-nut and I'm the one person on the planet that didn't like Lion King.
