  • [Question] Help me out with restaurant choices.

My Disneyland trip is just 5 weeks away. I have decided to not make any reservations for any meals. I am just gloing to find a place to eat when I become hungry in the parks. I'd like to have an idea of the best places to head for food in both Disneyland, DCA, Downtown Disney, and anywhere else that is nearby.

I am staying at the Candy Cane Inn, so it's most likely that each day, I will start out fed with food from the sufficient continental breakfast that I already have sampled on a previous trip.

Here is my question. List 5 restaurants that you think will provide me with both good food, and/or good service.

    Thanks in advance.

    mimi's cafe
    white water snacks
    la brea bakery
    the uva bar
    pizza port

we usually go to one of the above. We have also walked tot he garden walk. We loved bubba gumps. The cheesecake factory was so so and I'm dying to try pf changs (I think that's what it's called. )

There is always a line for story teller's. It's not my favorite, but people seem to like it.

      1. Golden Horse Shoe (Frontierland)
      2. French Market (New Orleans Square)
      3. Cafe Orleans (New Orleans Square)
      4. White Water Snacks (inside the Grand Califonian Hotel)
      5. Village Haus (Fantasyland)

These are the places we eat at every trip and are usually very satisfied!

I had the pleasure of eating at Hook's Pointe Restaurant. The best part of this was the Fresh Baked Chocolate Chip Cookie for dessert! Pure heaven for only six dollars!

The CCI is in a good location for Anaheim GardenWalk, just east down Katella Avenue 1 block.

Bubba Gump's is great and moderately priced.

Roy's Hawaiian Cuisine is excellent, but higher priced.

McCormick and Schmidts is good, as if PF Changs and California Pizza Kitchen, but these are chains that can be found elsewhere easily for most).

Cheesecake Factory is another great choice, large portions, and moderately priced.

Mimi's Cafe is probably the best coffee shop style restaurant in the area, a bit of a walk (near Howard Johnson's), but great food, good prices, and large portions, though they just cam out with a smaller portion menu.

Downtown Disney, surprisingly the ESPN Zone has great food.

          A snack, I like Wetzel's Pretzels.

ESPN (only if you're starving. HUGE portions)
Naples (excellent pizza and wine list)
            JazzKitchen (quick and reasonable$)
            StoryTellers (buffet style!)
HagganDaz (cuz sometimes it's OK to have ice cream for lunch!)
Just countin' the days til the next visit!

everyone's?) because they are the only restaurants in the park with table service, unless you count Club 33. In fact Blue Bayou is so popular that it's the only one that people ever reserve. Technically, you can reserve any restaurant but nobody ever does except Blue Bayou. There is also Tiffy's at Katella and DIsneyland Dr and they have historical photos

Captain Kidd's for some reason has a bad rap. I don't know why. I ate there and loved it.

When I go to Disneyland, I tune my FRS Radio to channel 2, without a quiet code. They're faster than a cell phone and you can talk to a whole group at a time, and you don't have to get everyone's cell phone number in advance.

I have been wanting to try Mimi's Cafe. It is in the other direction from my hotel. However, I am going to take notes, and like I said, it will all be impulse eating, probably.

Re: Help me out with restaurant choices.

Is it just you, or are you with a group of people? Parties of one are easier to squeeze in on short notice (eat at the bar, for example). Parties of eight? Difficult. Prepare to wait and be hungry.

I do prefer your method, though. Most of DTD won't take reservations anyway.

On the higher price tag side...
                    * Roy's (it's actually a chain, but a nice one)
                    * Yamabuki

                    Of course, there's Blue Bayou...
