    [Idea] Frontierland Expansion

    Frontierland....

I came up with this idea for an expansion for Frontierland. How about we put in hinking trails around the old Mine Train through Nature's Wonerland track. They could rebuild Cascade Peak and the Living Desert. It could be a new attraction with state-of-the-art technology and also have a lot of nods to the old attraction that was there. Also remake the Golden Horseshoe Revue at the Golden Horseshoe.

    Big Thunder Ranch...

I have two ideas for Big Thunder Ranch.

1.) It could be rethemed to Pochahotas' village with a Pochahontas attraction. It would be a ride similar to an Imax/Circle-Vision theater. The setting could be that you are in Pochahotas' canoe with her. You would be sprayed with water and the climax would be going thriugh rapids. You would be sitting in seats shaped like canoes. Now for the Second......

2.) Retheme Big Thunder Ranch to a mining/Gold Rush town. Billy Hill and the Hillbillies could be put there and there could be some cool activites for little kids to do there too!!!

    What do you think Micechatters?????

Well I rather have that journey through American history show or what ever its called (over in WDW)/ The show is educational and entertaining. There's room for another roller coaster near the ranch too, a mine car ride would be fun.
    Happy Halloween!!!

Isn't one totally knock-your-socks-off mine themed rollercoaster enough?

As for the original post. Yes put in the living dessert, yes put in Cascade Peak, no don't make it a trail, no don't make a Pochahantas ride. Frontierland needs rides and Disneyland needs totally original idea rides, I believe it's as simple as that.

I'd personally like to see some of the old Discovery Bay ideas see reality, specifically the "China town" area and the "Fireworks Factory" attraction.

Dark ride possibilities abound for Frontierland. I'd love to see that. Pocahontas doesn't do it for me...cartoons are for Fantasyland.

for now its used for companies having get to gathers, but I think Disney has plans for Big Thunder Ranch/hunchback area but I dont think we'll see any changes for a while.

Also, I think Pocahontas should be small water ride. It has a frontier element and a fantasy element, which is a good transition between lands.

IMO, those inter-land transitions are usually only effective in the exterior theming, not in the attractions themselves. You end up with attractions that fit in neither land. When space is as limited as it is...and when there are so many other, more thematically appropriate ideas floating around...I still vote for something different. Something original.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. The Pochahotas ride would just be a part of the section. I was thinking that the entire ranch area ckould be themed to Indians and the Pochahontas ride would be there for a good attraction.

That is what I was hoping for was a good transition between Fantasyland and Frontierland. Thanks for all the GREAT feedback!!!

                            Western River Expedition, anyone?

The village and ride based on Pocahontas might be fun, but as others have pointed out, they wouldn't be a great fit for various reasons (the era is also a bit early, although I suppose that would simply expand the concept of the frontier).

As for the mining town, Knott's Berry Farm has that pretty well covered with its Ghost Town. Disney could make a different version of it, but Frontierland has always been more about humankind living close to and interacting with nature than the larger constructs associated with civilization of that era.

And as for the hiking trail with partial reconstruction and improvement of Nature's Wonderland, that would certainly be better than nothing, although I would like to see a return of multiple modes of transportation through different paths within the same themed area. Obviously, there would be some interaction with the Rivers of America, as there had been in the past. The whole area would be livened up considerably, depending on the sight lines.

Personally, I wouldn't want anything that would change the quiet feel of the Big Thunder Trail. However, an idea for a ride did occur to me...

It wouldn't be a major e-ticket, but I think would be fun: a railroad hand car ride. Guests would pump the handles up and down to make the car move along the track. A quiet ride, winding around the pond, through a tunnel or two, and through the woods.

Some might think it sounds like too much work, yet Legoland has a number of guest-powered rides that are very popular. The ride could move slowly on its own, but pumping the handles would cause the cars to go faster--not too fast, though. I'm not talking thrill ride.

That's not a bad idea at all, DannyB. Whatever were added, it would need to be a lot more focused on the scenery than BTMRR is. I think BTMRR is brilliant, and I never want to see it leave the park, but I wouldn't want another thrill ride put in right across from it, and what you're talking about fits the bill.

Runaway Stagecoaches! - an outdoor Indy-style ride, not on jeeps but on stagecoaches, you careen down hills and valley, splash through streams and crash through an old barn.

I believe that when Disneyland opened, they had an occasional runaway stagecoach ride, although the "runaway" part was not intentional--which is why that ride was short-lived.

I've had an idea like this for that area for a long time. I actually was thinking it would have it would have both indoor and outdoor scenes and have some slower parts that could have some scene ideas from WRE. Maybe if the Lone Ranger happens and is succesful they'll decide to put some money into something cool for FL. It could use something like this and a couple small attractions too and a walkthrough could be built into the outside paths as well. While not quite as much of a problem as TL for me, FL could defintely use some addtions.
