I think it would be a good movie don't you think

As long as its not made by disney i think it would be safe to say it would be an awesome movie

If Disney made it it would be starring a couple 13 year old kids that nobody has ever heard of with some mad scientist dad or something completely random.

Actually, it could be rather cool! They'd have to walk numerous fine lines - for example, appealing to fans of the original without alienating the significant portion of the population that knows nothing about ATIS, and making it fresh without sacrificing the feel of the original...but if they handled it right, I think it'd be fun. I don't think it'll actually happen, but it's a nice idea.

I don't remember ATIS being overly burdened by story*; what would they base a plot around?

*Of course, I may have forgotten; I was quite young when they took the ride away.

The eye was cool, but I think an hour and a half of it would be a bit much. )

Re: Adventure Thru Inner Space the movie

They've already done it - over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over... The last one I saw from Disney was shrinking Lilo and Stitch and sending them inside Pleakley.

It could be done yet again and be an entertaining movie - Hollywood has a long history of rehashing the exact same movie every 15 to 25 years with a new slant, and making a little money at it. Sometimes they don't even bother changing the title, they pull out the old script out of the vault verbatim and only the actors and the blocking are different.

But to make a truly entertaining and successful movie you need some story and a few plot points to rig the action around - just doing it for the coolness factor or A List Celebs alone isn't going to put movie viewers in the seats.

The original ATIS was "We shrink you down, you go see cool things, then the shrinking wears off and we have to get you out of there before you expand back to normal." And that might make a nice SFX driven short, but that's all.

That's ok as long as they're making out with their date in the back row of the theatre!

Martin Short and Dennis Quaid were in a movie called Innerspace back in 1987 - It could be considered as a version of Adventure Through "Inner Space" even though it was produced by Amblin (which is/was part of Warner Bros.).

Although I never had a chance to experience ATIS, based on my understanding of the attraction it is similar to a few films that do exist. Most notably the film "Fantastic Voyage" which was released in 1966, interestingly enough just a year before ATIS opened. More information can be found here: Fantastic Voyage. Another film entitled "Innerspace" was released in 1987. More information on it can be found here: Innerspace. The concept certainly isn't old as I am sure it has come up on several other occasions in films and television.

What this does remind me of is the use of media, specifically movies and television to promote attractions. This is not to be confused with attractions based on movies. This also is not to be confused with attractions being altered to fit the movie in (POTC). For instance, if they began production of a new or remade version of Davy Crockett to promote Frontierland, very much similiar to the way the Disneyland TV show did prior to the park opening/early years after it was opened I believe it could be beneficial.

Chadb14 ^ beat me to it, haha.

Amblin's Dennis Quaid film "Innerspace" was yet another Speilbergian "homage" to Disney. Certainly inspired by the fabulous ride.

...and the ride was certainly inspired by 20th Century Fox's psychedelic "Fantastic Voyage," which was slated to be remade in recent times.
