  • [Question] Why is there an arcade in tomorrowland??

I am honestly wondering who pays a 68$ ticket to pay $ for arcade games seen at the local Pizza Hut.

    Answers please. I need answers.

I've wondered that same thing as long as I can remember, which is about when it opened in the first place.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.

Perhaps those aren't all people who paid $68 dollars. Perhaps many of them are annual passholders who were dropped off by their parents before work with $20 for food and fun all day. Who knows?

            It existed pre AP's.

Re: Why is there an arcade in tomorrowland??

My question is... why is there a SUCKY arcade in Tomorrowland? That's right, there was a time when that arcade was da BOMB. Like, the best arcade around until Las Vegas started adding them to their casinos to lure families.

The upper floor? OPEN. It was a great place to get away from the crowds. Honestly. Back then it was also another alternative to standing in the hot lines for hours. As a youngin, me and my buddies would spend quite a bit of the afternoon playing air hockey and we had lots of fun.

It's sad what's left of it. I think it still has potential of showcasing the latest and greatest arcades in the business... an extension of Innoventions if you will. I have a soft spot for it.

Exactly. The Wii should have premiered in the Starcade six months before anyone had heard of it. I should be able to go to the Starcade, slap on a 3D helmet, and let my nerd flag fly while hunting aliens only I can see via my helmet cam (okay, bystanders can see them on the plasma screen pointed away from me).

Such a shame. It really was great fun back in the day.

It sure did. And at that time I went in there to play Air Hockey, Pinball and games you couldn't find anywhere. Now it's filled with crap that you could find in just about any lobby at a Red Robin Restaurant. Unless you consider an Electricfying Uncle Fester "cutting edge".

Re: Why is there an arcade in tomorrowland??

Starcade is really a relic of the 70's and early 80's. Back then, home video games were so pathetic, the real gamers were in the arcades. But, as home video technology caught up to the arcade, gamers moved from the arcade to their living room. Nowadays it's all done at home with the Xbox and Playstations, on a huge TV. They should go retro with Starcade and become a museum of all the classic games of years gone by. Could you imagine a King of Kong tournament being held in Tomorrowland? That would truly rule!

At least at Chuck E Cheese you don't have to leave the crappy arcade to get sub-par pizza. You have to walk a lot further to get to pizza port.

Starcade reminds me of Chuck E. Cheese since Pizza Port is next to it. Pizza Port has sucking pizza just like Chuck E. Cheese.
