  • [Question] Does DL offer Military Discounts?

We heard thru the grapevine that DL is offering like 30% off hotels and something off tickets right now for the military...

Anyone have any details or heard of this or is it a normal thing? I've never been military before... I'm an AP, but have to worry about everyone else in my party now!

We don't know who to ask on post... so I come to all of you - knowing you will no doubt have the answer!

Re: Does DL offer Military Discounts?

Here is the info Darkbeer shared:

At the Disneyland Resort in Southern California:

Through June 12, 2009, each active or retired member of the U.S. military can receive one complimentary three-day "Disney's Armed Forces Salute" Park Hopper ticket valid for admission to both Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure parks. During the offer period, active or retired U.S. military personnel also may make a one-time purchase of an adult or child three-day "Disney's Armed Forces Salute Companion" Park Hopper ticket for up to five family members (including spouse) or friends for the price of an adult 1-Day Park Hopper ticket.

Disneyland Resort hotels are also offering special room rates for active or retired military personnel. For example, at Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel, active or retired members of the military and their families may find hotel rooms starting at $119 per night during value season, with great savings during other times of the offer period. This offer is available through June 12, 2009, and the number of rooms available at these special rates is limited.

For information regarding "Disney's Armed Forces Salute" at the Disneyland Resort, or to make reservations, military personnel may call 714/956-6424.

Here is a link to the Full Disney Parks Press Release, that discusses the offers at BOTH Disneyland and WDW, and they are different, even with different ending dates, so check the fine print carefully.

I have a military ID and am not classified as civilian, would these discounts apply to me too? My dad was in the army.

that would make you a dependant. I doubt that it would apply to you since you yourself are not retired or active duty. It only mentions, active duty....retired....and spouses.

Not fair. I have 2 brothers and a SIL in the Air Force, yet this does me no good Plus they can't use it because 2 out of 3 of them are deployed!

Re: Does DL offer Military Discounts?

My husband just got an email with this information yesterday. I'm so glad. As an Air Force wife myself, I know a lot of people who couldn't afford Disneyland before and are now making plans to go.

It has been a long time coming... but I am grateful that they are doing this promotion. I took a bit of flack on the board for even suggesting it before, glad to know that someone in Disney felt the same way I do. I wish they would expand the offer to active reserve, honorable/medical discharge, and DD-214's (I have friends in those categories and the Knott's promotion allows them entrance based on their status) but the fact that they are even offering something means a great deal to me. Thank you for the information.

                    Haven't they offered it before?

I know they have offered it to LEO and FF's, but I thought they also included it for the military?

I'm not military, so I haven't paid close attn to it, but I am the other, so we are kind of "tuned" into those type of specials.

Knott's and USH programs have been terrific over the years and are much appreciated!

In the five years we've been going, I haven't ever heard or seen a military discount.

They've not done a military special like this one before that I've heard of. Sea World had free admission and the San Diego Zoo had a military promotion, but this is the first I've heard of Disneyland doing something like this.

                        I'm really very grateful.

Oh! I almost forgot. Discounted tickets for military families were available at Outdoor Rec (or the equivalent - my husband's Air Force, so those are the terms I know). The discounts were always fairly modest, though. They were NOTHING like this.

I think what you are talking about is Tickets and Tours. I was going to give them a fair chance in Oct when we went, and I went over and priced their tickets. The tickets through them for WDW, were more expensive than buying them online at the WDW website. I asked what their rates were for the hotels, and T&T said they had to take my name and info and get back to me IN A WEEK! I told them no thanks, and made the reservations myself.

Yup. Thanks. I'm bad with names. Our last few bases it's just always been lumped in with Outdoor Rec.

Thanks for the pricing info, too. I never checked it out myself. I've just taken other people's word for it and gone through the website, anyway.
