  • [Fun] How Many Elevators in Disneyland?

Sometimes a random object or thing will trigger a memory of Disneyland. It could be a sight, sound, or smell. Sometimes it could just be something that I am doing that triggers a memory. A couple of days ago I was riding my work elevator and for no appearent reason I thought of Disneyland. I could not think of any reason why an elevator would do this. I don't ride too many elevators at Disneyland, in fact I only know of a couple.

Then I thought of micechat. How about a game of sorts. How many elevators do you know of in Disneyland? I mean the park proper - not the hotels,Downtown Disney, business offices outside the berm, etc. It could be on a ride or backstage or in a shop, etc. Size doesn't matter for this game - so it could have a capacity for a handful or it could be a pair of elevators that can hold 50 or so each.

    You may begin.

I have have set a goal of 30 replies.

Alright this might take a while, the ones I can think of off the top of my head:

Tower of Terror (7 including the ride elevators)
    Screamin' (2)
    Indiana Jones (2)
    Pacific Wharf area
    Hyperion Theater (3?)
    Orange Stinger/Silly Symphony Swings
    Mullhallond Madnes (2?)
    Haunted Mansion (2, Stretching Rooms)

That is all I can think of at the moment

      Autopia has two.
Isn't there one in Club 33 also and the one for the dream suite.

Fantasmic has a few (depending on your definition of an elevator) and Innoventions has a couple (one inside and one outside for freight). And don't forget the stage at TLT.

            You did include backstage, right?

Now this information may well be dated now after the recent renovation of the New Orleans Main Kitchen, but from the time I worked there in the early 80's...with the kitchen relatively unchanged I am told until the renovation within the past year...

From New Orleans Main Kitchen, which was at least partially undeground...

An elevator to the Blue Bayou kitchen, for transport of food, people, dirty pots and pans, etc...

One to the French Market kitchen, same purposes...

One to the old Sara Lee era Cafe Orleans sandwich room/kitchen with a stop at the Club 33 kitchen one floor above.

And there was/is? a large freight elevator, for large pots and other items kept in storage in a room called "the cage"...which was behind one of the "facades" as I recall in the "Court of Angels" upper level.

            Hope this adds something.

Also at one time, dirty dishes and such were transported from the Bayou, Market and Cafe down to the NOMK dishroom via a rather elaborate conveyor belt system (prone to breakdowns, especially the one coming from the Bayou!)

There is an elevator at the exit of Nemo to get up to the monorail station.

The elevator that went to the Rocket Rods loading area is still there (though probably non-operational).

There's one inside the Matterhorn to assist in evacuating guests with disabilities.

^ I was gonna mention the Matterhorn shaft, yup. I believe there's also one in the back of Pirates, but I'm not 100% positive.
