  • [Idea] The Best Third Park Idea (in my opinion :D) - California Disneyseas

So, let me start off by saying that this post will be a little long, but it is worth it!
The Disneyland Resort is in a desperate need of a new themepark if they plan to have guests actually spend more than a weekend in their hotels. With the lack of success of DCA (which will hopefully change), I decided that the best idea for a new theme park would be something completely opposite of the corny feel the park has. Hence, California DisneySea (or just DisneySeas, but we will call it CDS for short) was born.

It takes inspiration from its extremely amazing sister park, Tokyo DisneySea, but puts in its own charm because it is obvious some changes would have to be made to make it original, and because we already have some rides that DisneySea has. I love this theme park so much because it has an immense amount of detail, and from what I can tell, it brings out the disney magic we all love.

CDS will have a similar layout to what TDS has, keeping the seven ports of call idea for lands. I will go into detail with these ports of call later in the post, but the ports of calls will be: Mediterranean Harbor (same as TDS), the Waterfront (similar to American Waterfront, but with changes), Port of Discovery (same as TDS but with extra ideas), Mystic Point (replaces Lost River Delta), Arabian Coast (same as TDS but with extra ideas), Coral Kingdom (replaces Mermaid Lagoon), and Mysterious Island (my personal favorite and same as TDS but with extras)

    Mediterranean Harbor
    Venetian Gondolas (same as TDS)
    A seating area:
-similar as the one being built in DCA for shows at night, but with a mediterranean feel
Fortress of Explorations: similar to TDS, but with a character meet and greet
    DisneySea Transit Steamliner
It will host the two shows, BraviSEAmo and Legend of Mythica and It will also have a replica of the Hotel MiraCosta, but it will hopefully have more reasonable prices.

    The Waterfront
This land is probably the least developed that I have come up with, just because I don't know what could fit. In TDS, they have Tower of Terror, Turtle Talk with Crush, and they are getting Midway Mania, but we already have these attractions in DCA. The ones I have come up with are the Big City Vehicles and the Disney Electric Railway. It too, will have the DisneySea Transit Steamliner and the Broadway Theatre for shows. I'm thinking that there could be a couple of dark rides, but I don't know what they could be. I also feel that there should be an E Ticket ride, but again, I don't know what would fit just yet. I'll post my ideas if I think of them later, but your ideas are welcome, too!
Another difference between the Waterfront in CDS and TDS is that CDS's wouldn't have a cape cod section, and the S.S Columbia would be downsized just because of the cost and area of the land. A centerpieceof the park would be located here and would most likely be a rustic lighthouse, just because TDS already took the volcano on Mysterious Island and the Aquasphere.

    Port of Discovery
This is the point where all of my ideas start coming together. We are moving clockwise through the park and we reach Port of Discovery. It, like its copy in TDS, will ahve Aquatopia, Stormriders, and the DisneySea Electric Railway, but it will also have "MicroAdventure" which is similar to Adventures thorugh Inner Space.

    Mystic Point
The only reason why I'm not keeping Lost River Delta is because its major ride is Indiana Jones, which DL already has. Don't worry, Mystic Point will have the same feel as it, but instead of Indiana Jones, it will have Mystic Manor, which is going into the Hong Kong DL Park. It will be slightly different, however, and have the African Idol from The Tower of Terror at TDS cause all the mischeif. So basically, it is the same story as the Tower of Terror in TDS, but a different ride.
It will also have Raging Spirits, but it will have an actual story line including a pre-show in the queue, and animatronics at the beginning of the ride before the rollercoaster part starts.
It will also have Liki Tikis from Hong Kong Disneyland as a water play area to cool guests off, and the DisneySea Transit Steamliner will stop here.

    Arabian Coast
This will be just as heavily detailed as the one in TDS. It will have the beautiful Carousel Caravan, DisneySea Transit Streamliner and the Magic Lamp Theatre the same, but here is when it gets different:
It will have the Flying Carpets ride that Magic Knigdom's Adventureland has by the Carousel Caravan.
There will be Sinbad's Seven Voyages, but it will have a couple of drops and more intricate animatronics to make it more of a Pirates of the Caribbean experience.
Finally, there will be an Aladdin Dark Ride similar to Peter Pan's Flight that takes guests through the story of Aladdin on a Magic Carpet.

    Coral Kingdom
CDS can't have Mermaid Lagoon like TDS because a Little Mermaid Ride is being built in DCA. Instead, Coral kingdom will just be an "Under the Sea" world and my plans are to have:
Either Crush's Coaster from Walt Disney Studios (but I'm not a big fan of another PIxar movie ride) or Flounder's Flying Fish (but that would copy TDS even more)
All the flat rides from TDS's mermaid lagoon (they could take Jumping Jellyfish from DCA)
Instead of the Little Mermaid Show from TDS, I was thinking of taking the Finding Nemo show from Animal Kingdom.

    Mysterious Island
I LOVE THIS LAND SOOO MUCH! It is the main reason why I thought of getting a CDS.
Journey to the Center of the Earth looks awesome! The only thing I would change would be to make the monster look more like its jumping to the car, and make the fast-pace portion of the ride longer.
20,000 Leagues under the Sea would be the same, except there would be bigger cars because reviews of the ride says that it is cramped, and I would make it so every spot on the ride gets the same value of experience.
The Disney Transit Steamliner would go here.
I would add a walk-through Nautlius experience like the one in DLP.

I think that should do it. I see three problems with the park, however.
    1. Land - I don't think the strawberry field they have would be big enough, and I don't know where else they could put it to make sure it is close enough to the other two parks.
    2. Cost - with all the money they are spending trying to fix DCA, this just desn't seem logical.
    3. It is too similar to other disney parks- It pretty much takes rides from other parks without a lot of original ones, but if they could copy Disneyland 6 times, they could easily get away with copying TDS once.

Sorry for how long the post was but I wanted to go into detail to get good critism. I will try to look for pictures explaining my ideas even further but that should do it for now. Please give me your ideas!

There were going to be Disney's Sea instead of DCA a long time ago. Because we were so cheap back then that they scraped Disney's Sea for DCA. That is why Tokyo now have Disney Sea.

I know!!! It just makes me want to get one here even more! But honestly, we are still cheap now haha.

No, but I wish I could go! Everyone says it so amazing, but its kinda a little bit far a way haha! The pictures and videos of the area make me want to go!

A water based park would work, but let's NOT encourage them the just duplicate TDS and every major ride or show that isn't at DLR or DCA already. If they can come up with enough new and different things, maybe. But they would have to go totally over the top, and as DCA proves Disney doesn't have the  "intestinal fortitude" to take big risks like that. No risk, no reward.

And I'll bet that they would need to expand the footprint of the Strawberry Field land quite a bit to make a TDS clone fit. Water attractions tend to need lots of room to present properly, and they don't have too much to spare over there. Look for a few of the bordering properties to sell to Disney if they want some extra space.

The main reason they came up with the original DisneySea idea was to play Long Beach and Anaheim off against each other for an expansion gate. An "Ocean" park would logically need to be next to the Ocean, and they were angling for cheap land on the ocean in southern Los Angeles County or northern Orange County. And if they were going to choose to expand in Anaheim instead of elsewhere, they would need concessions...

Who knew they could dust off the plans and build it in Japan instead?

That would be awesome, but the way things are going, it looks like the Disneyland Resort is going to eventually end up as Disneyland, PixarLand and MarvelLand.

Disney Sea would be great, and the inclusion of Mystic Point would also be awesome. I think I'd probably ditch the American Waterfront because od time period similarities with Paradise Pier and Hollywoodland. Instead, I'd love to see Tortuga. A Pirates-dedicated land so Jack Sparrow, the dutchman, and the franchise has a place to live and breathe without bleeding everywhere else (cough tom sawyers island). There's enough content in the 4+ movies to create an amazing immersive land, and pirates are a natural fit at sea. I'd also drop Sinbad to add a Prince of Persia themed ride. It hasn't hit yet, but as soon as it does Disney is sure to cash in. Promoting two major franchises also increases the odds of the park getting built SYNERGY! For the Aladdin ride, I'd think about using the Crush Coaster technology to mix dark ride scenes witha fast-paced carpet escape from the cave of wonders. The ride should be long and immersive....dark ride setup (Marketplace scene to cave of wonders dark ride followed by a fast escape coaster section. Then Friend like me, Prince Ali, Whole New World dark, followed by a final fast an furious escape from Jafar.)

I agree about the land issue for sure, which is too bad, but i don't think it necessarily has to be right on the ocean. After all, they did build the junlges of Asia in Anaheim.

That is my worst nightmare haha. I don't mind Pixar too much because it still has the disney feel to it, but marvel I think belongs with Universal. I love Islands of Adventure

Thanks about the Mystic Point comment! I thought it was clever too, but I thought of the Aladdin Dark Ride as something for the younger kids because the theme to DisneySEAs is more mature than Disneyland or DCA. I also like the idea of tortuga, but I am against even more pirates in disney parks than there is already. Get them off Tom Sawyer!!!!

Does anyone know the backstory as to why Disney didn't go with the expansion in Long Beach? Didn't Disney own the Queen Mary/Spruce Goose complex out there in the LB harbor? The reason why TDS could be built in Japan is because they used a bayfront property that existed right next to TDL thus cutting costs. It would cost Disney a ton of money just for the water logistics alone if the park were to be built so far inland.

I would actually rather have an EPCOT type theme park then a TDS type theme park. When I went to WDW, it was the highlight of my trip.

I agree; EPCOT is my favorite as well.
I think it would be cool if instead of different countries it had different states or regions of the U.S.

Maybe they'll revive the Westcot concept when they eventually get around to a third park. I think it would have worked much better than DCA.

I never thought of that. It's like combining two theme park ideas into one. EPCOT and Disney America. If executed properly, it could be amazing.

Originally, WESTCOT was going to be more or less the California version of EPCOT, and it was going to be located where Disney's California Adventure sits now.

California red tape. Disney wanted to reclaim into the harbor for park space.
