  • [Question] A new map for Disneyland/California Adventures soon?

okay, quite frankly I am not too fond of the current DL/CA maps. They are kind of boring and uninteresting. Does anyone hope/want a new map for these parks any time soon. Personally I would like to see a new fun map for both parks, like the new California Adventures expansion map. I could see them replacing both maps with something like that by the time phase 1 is done, 2012. thoughts? speculations? knowledge on this matter?

I hope so! Maybe get a unique art style to represent the park that has never been done before....

Just hope it isn't like Tokyo's....

First off, it's California Adventure, not California Adventures. Second, they will release a new souvenir/fun map of Disneyland next year, as they do it every 5 years for the anniversary. As far as using the souvenir maps as the guide maps, that might not be a good idea because the souvenir maps tend to exaggerate things and the general purpose of a guide map should be accuracy so people know where they're going.

Can't remember the last time I picked up a map
so never noticed if it needs one.
I'd rather have better rides vs a better map

Okay, this may sound rude and nerdy, but it is California Adventure. Not California Adventures. Sorry, I just for some reason cringe when I hear someone say that. Weird, I know...

But I think the maps are fine the way they are. They are cartoony enough, if they were more abstract they wouldnt preform their task of showing accurate pathways through the park and where attractions are.

It's just a map. A good portion of the time I see them on the ground, in a ride, and in the ROA more than actually being used. So, I really don't care about the design. As long as it's up and current with whatever is going on at the parks, then it's fine by me.

and why ppl can't put them in the trash cans I'll never figure out.
There is a trash can every so many feet.
And a ride is def. the last place they should be.

Also another good reason they should stop giving out maps so freely.
                You lose it, no more.

I've been wanting a poster of DLR for a very long time to hang in my room. I'm hoping they keep the tradition of releasing the souvenir maps in 2010.

That's not really a fair judgment, because people DO drop them accidentally and don't realize it.

                      I do realize that
but I think if your outside and you drop it (the ride is a tid bit harder) you can at least pick it up vs leaving it on the ground.

I think you need to re-read what I said.

I miss when the map you picked up at the Main Gate was a booklet with a two-page spread for each land detailing attractions, eateries, and shopping.

believe it or not i still get a ton of maps whenever i go, i dont know why. just to look at them later and stuff i guess. haha.

i agree that the map is due for an update. once cars land is done there will HAVE to be new maps anyway. so i think within 2-3 years we will get new maps.
