  • Poor commercial. (Merged x3)

I just saw a new commercial, with Kelsey Grammer narrating about the 50th anniversary. At the end of the commercial, they show Walt Disney giving the dedication speech to Disneyland, but the castle for WDW is in the background, and it's a WDW commercial. Awful!

I **HATE** when they do that! Give DL its due!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I don't have anything wrong with them advertising WDW for the 50th celebration, but I was thinking the same thing during the speech. I don't mind them advertising WDW because WDW is their main tourist resort. It is pretty much the center of HCOE (Disneyland is the center of HHOE). But yes, they shouldn't of had Walt's speech on it.

Walt isn't the problem, it is the digital removal of Sleeping Beauty Castle to make Disneyland appear to be Magic Kingdom. But if they really want Walt-WDW connection they should use Florida Project footage, like the E.P.C.O.T. video.

Any place online with a copy?

It actually was the way they did it too, they even put it in as black and white, to try and match the video of Walt. It was a poor job though, way out of scale. And even worse, they used the 50th anniversary decorations on the castle, not the plain castle...

That's what I have the problem with. And not just the speech, the fact that they show Walt giving the speech, with the WDW castle in the background.

Okay, I just saw the commercial again, and the way it's written, it sounds like Disney World opened 50 years ago. Shameful!

Does this just PROVE that WDW management is trying to SUPPLANT Disneyland as THE MK-park? I mean please. I have been ranting about this BEFORE the 50th started. WDW wants MK to REPLACE DL. They want its history, its specialness, etc. If the Big One hit DL, Al Weiss would be celebrating at Victoria and Alberts.

                    BLASPHEMY!

And I am completely oppossed to ANY Gold Decorations on the WDW
                    Castle UNTIL WDW's 50th anniversary. I really can't reverberate
how much I DETEST WDW celebrating DL's 5oth Anniversary.

There are plenty of other celebration WDW and all the parks could
celebrate together, the millenium, Walt's 100th, the Disney Company
birthday, various characters' birthdays, various animated movie anniversaries.
BUT Anniversaries for the individual parks should be for the individual Park, or
the resort they are located at.

WDW can go ahead and advertise that they added attractions from the
other parks around the world, BUT don't be advertising it as part of
the 50th Celebration. THAT is the Biggest Load of CRAP from the
                    Disney Publicity Machine.

WDW will have it's own 50th celebration in due time. BUT this year
                    Belongs to Disneyland.
Critter Country's a mess ev'r since the Country Bears were kicked out. Ya can't cover pooh with honey and 'spect people ta like it.

                      Re: Poor commercial

First of all, there are 2 celebrations going on now.
                      1) Happiest Homecoming on Earth: This is the celebration for the 50th anniversary of Disneyland.
                      2) Happiest Celebration on Earth: This is the celebration for 50 years of Disney theme parks.
Disney World is the focus of #2...Disneyland is the focus on #1. There is no reason WDW shouldn't be getting in on the action. From everywhere I've been reading, Disneyland has had amazing numbers this whole year (even in the off seasons). They don't need advertising. Also, Disneyland is a widely 'locals' resort while WDW is a tourist resort. WDW is the one that needs the TV advertising. So....WDW is not getting a part of Disneyland's 50th...it is getting a part of 50 years of Disney Theme Parks. (And I know this is all personal opinion, but I like Cinderella Castle's gold makeover more than Sleeping Beauty Castle's makeover)

That is exactly the film I am refering to. Plenty of Walt with Disney World stuff. Even if most of it is different (EPCOT, TMK being an EXACT replica of DL) it is still Walt and Disney World.

Yea, it sucks, we cringe. Most people don't care. The designers of the commerical obviously don't care. There is never enough care.
