  • [Chat] Pirates section in World of Color?

    Nothing official has been said of this, or even hinted (apart from the skull with Jack Sparrow headband appearing in maybe one piece of concept art), but do you think one of the "surprise" sections of World of Color will be a Pirates of the Caribbean film tribute?

    I personally would love to see this, the Hans Zimmer score is by and large fantastic and fun. Also, imagine seeing an abstract rendition of the Black Pearl, or Flying Dutchman, "constructed" out of water jets firing at the same time....it looks like they have been testing this sort of thing for other segments, making the water jets themselves form shapes.

    A couple musical selections they should include portions of if a Pirates section is in the show, to my mind anyway:

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXJj2sh_p0E]YouTube - Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End OST - Drink Up Me Hearties[/ame]

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXWfdqzbLCA]YouTube - Hans Zimmer - Two Hornpipes[/ame]

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fur86y7dQJ4]YouTube - Davy Jones[/ame]
    (for the pipe organ bits mainly)

    Your thoughts? And this isn't about a film/film series being "classic", or equal, or not...it's about music that would be good or enjoyable to have in a theme park water show.

      Absolutely! I personally think those films and especially the Jack Sparrow character are iconic! The idea of the water jets actually forming shapes of the ships and the wonderful music would be incredible! I can not wait to see this show and what they have come up with!
      BGood! It's not just my motto its my name!

        From Steven Davison's presentations there was no mention of Pirates so I imagine it won't be in the show.

          I saw the same ones, and yes, he never mentions it, but there are a few sections where he flat out says, I won't/can't tell you what is here, it is a surprise. It could go either way, and there is at least one piece of art with the Pirates film logo included alongside Pocohontas and the other properties that have been confirmed as being in the show.

            I think this woukld definitely be one of those moments where everyone's adrenaline shoots up and the crowd gets really into it. I personally say yes to this, but its not up to us so we'll wait and see.

              I personally rather see the movies disappear from the parks entirely.

                  I believe that "Drink Up Me Hearties" would be a great choice! As much as I love "Davy Jones" and my personal favorite, "Two Hornpipes", I think that "Drink Up Me Hearties" would be a better choice. The song has the theme from the movie and I imagine it would fit better than the other songs.

                    BINGO!

                    Let's stick with the actual ride (if anything), and the classic films. The movies should of been based on characters in the ride to begin with, not the other way around. Anyway, I doubt this will happen, at least not to a large extent. This seems to be more of a tribute to animated films. Which DCA needs if it ever wants to capture the nostalgia of The Land.

                      Personal opinions are wonderful things, and I can understand why with this property, given how it was used in the past certainly.

                      The ride overlay with movie stuff...not handled so well as a whole. I can still appreciate the movies as being a lot of fun, and the music is great. This is not a permanent classic attraction being discussed: this is a water show. Having Pirates film elements in it no more associates DCA forever with the films than the show than it would associate it with the Lion King, Fantasia, Alice in Wonderland, or any of the other properties used. It is all about the proper application of movie elements, not that using things from a certain film is automatically bad.

                        I love the idea but I think World of Color is supposed to be a celebration of Disney animation so I don't think it would fit in this show.

                          i probably wouldn't mind the pirates music, as long as the movie part isn't projected on a mist screen the whole time.

                          but if there's no pocahontas, i'm gonna get sooooo angry.

                            You must not have seen the concept art around the park for this show. There is DEFINITELY gonna be Pocahontas.

                              What's that behind Scar....? Pirates logo. Not conclusive, but the rest of the images used do seem to be things they've verbally verified as being in the show (apart from Steamboat Willie, but Davison did say some things were being kept "secret" still to be surprises)
