  • How Do You "Stake" Your Fireworks Spot?

Yesterday at work, I received this really super nice "blanket bag". It's a full-sized blanket that is warm soft fleece on one side and water-proof vinyl on the other. And the whole thing folds up to make a bag, with two side pockets, and an over-the-shoulder strap.

So, I got to thinking that this is perfect to carry as a tote at Disneyland, since it can also double as a mat for fireworks viewing.

So, how do you "stake your spot"? Do you just spread stuff out (plastic bags, blankets, etc.), spread people out (like blocking with legs, etc.), or another "method"?

I have 2 similar blankets. I bought them at the beginning of summer and have used them at the Beach, Disneyland, and at the Cemetery Films. These little puppies are fabulous! I usually keep them in my car, so when I need them they are readily available.

When I need to be involved in staking out a spot for Fireworks, I get the blanket (or 2 - depending on the number of people inolved), place the blankets and send a few people to go get dinner to bring back while the rest of us wait. We have a nice comfy area to sit on as well as enough space for everyone. It ends up being a picnic-like atmosphere and always a great time. We also get to know other people who are visiting Disneyland. I sat next to a visitor from Iran last year, which was very cool.

Oh, we used the shopping bag methose recently which I didn't enjoy. Although it was my hairbrained suggestion, I think it was too dangerous in the end. I was adamate about getting the bags off the pavement before the end of the show, though.

I carry a portable chainlink fence that has a cloaking device so security doesn't see it.. then i set it up as a construction area during the day... and remove it at night... lol

I get there whenever and pick a spot..

I can get prime seats 5 minutes before showtime, it's top secret and if I divulged my secret...well it's no longer a secret

I find the most loud, obnoxious, irritating person in the hub, and drive a stake into him.

Well, if I lived close and had an AP, I'd just use DCA...plenty of room and no need to stake a spot. Speaking of which, I know that there are effects on the Castle and such, but has anyone TRIED watching the show from the Esplanade or DCA? If so, how is it?

I don't. I just use my elbows!

Once in a blue moon, if I'm with my family or friends, we try to get good seats and/or standing positions for the fireworks. But we don't stake out like 3 or 4 hours before hand like some people. There's usually always open spots where we can see. And even if the show has already started, we can still get our way in. We've done the waiting in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle thing, but people are just rude, pushy, and ignorant in that area. At the end of the performance, it's like a bunch of school children leaving school at the end of the day, if you push, you just might get there faster.

Just what the show needs...Another staked out spot with a blanket.
