  • [Pictures] Jack Wrather and Walt Disney

I wanted to share with you all some documents I found while doing research for my book rewrite. I am hoping to show the relationship between Walt Disney and Jack Wrather. Who did the Big Brother organization contact to approach Walt Disney about accepting their award? Jack Wrather. Hope you enjoy these. These have also been posted on my blog The Original Disneyland Hotel

Here is a real sad letter from Jack Wrather to Roy Disney concerning Walt's passing. Please let me know if you would like to see more.

What I always notice when reading letters like this is the grace and elegance that used to be routinely included in business or personal correspondence. Obviously these men had secretaries who were dictated these letters to, and then whom cleaned up the grammar and such. But the end result was always so stylish and polite, yet so genuine and meaningful.

In the world of Twitter and Email and iPhones and message boards, we've definitely lost something.

              Amen.

Jack Wrather and Walt seemed to have a very close freindship. Do you know if Walt would ever spend time down at the Balboa Bay Club? Just curious as it isn't too far away.

I think Jack and Walt had as close a relationship as their schedules would allow. They were both extremely busy men with full daily committments.

I have no documentation that Walt visited the Balboa Bay Club but he may have. I think the two would have more likely met at the Oak Room at the Disneyland Hotel. I have several pictures of Disney execs meeting there. I also have a picture or two of Walt's daughters at the Disneyland Hotel. I wonder if they were friends with the Wrather children and maybe hung out with them at either Disneyland or the Disneyland Hotel?

I will be posting a couple more documents a bit later today.

Here is one that is really poignant to me. Even in his last days, Walt remembered his friend Jack Wrather. I think this document speaks loads on their relationship.

So true. Letters such as these are so classy.
