[Chat] What's your favorite place to eat at DLR/DCA?

There are definite places I eat everytime I go to DLR/DCA. My must hits are:

-- MUST get a corn dog from the cart on Main Street
-- Dole whip. Those two are my absolute musts of any trip!

-- Ariel's Grotto: went there last time I went to DLR/DCA and it was delicious!


What are your favorites/must eats while at DLR or DCA?

I love bengal BBQ, the Hungary bear (especially the seating area!) Blue bayou is always good. I have to say I am also looking forward to the boardwalk pizza and pasta!

The rice bowl place in California Adventure is good. Flavorful and filling yet, not bowel movingly so. In that park, I also like Wine Country Trattoria for more fancy meals. If I want counter service in an enclosed location, I go to Tastepilot.

In Disneyland, Village Haus just changed its menu and added a pastrami burger which is pretty good. I also like Bengal BBQ. For fancier dining, I like Blue Bayou - outrageous crabcakes.

For Downtown Disney, it depends what kind of mood I'm in, but it is usually either Rainforest, ESPN, or Catal.

Hungry Bear is probably the other staple-- we usually hit it for lunch at least one day.

For me, it's the Pacific Wharf Cafe. The sandwiches and salads there are excellent.

My top two places at DLR are Big Thunder BBQ & The Plaza Inn.

At Big Thunder BBQ the meat falls right off the bone (Ribs). And the corn melts off the cob. The Plaza Inn offers some pretty good fried chicken. I eat that and the chicken and pasta. Mmmmm.

Cafe Orleans by a mile! Table service, people watching and fabulous food for no more than we'd spend at a counter service restaurant. The kids love the mac and cheese and dh and I always share a pommes frites, I get french onion soup and he gets gumbo.

I love, love, love Cafe Orleans! My husband and I share the Monte Christo and pommes frites. It is SOOOOO good! And the atmosphere and views from the patio are unbeatable!

Big Thunder BBQ is good and we like Blue Bayou (expensive though). I'm not real particular, slam a burger and fries down me and I'm good to go.

I don't have a favorite place to eat at the DLR, but I do try to visit a new place each and every trip. On my last trip, I ate at the Carnation Cafe for the first time.. I had a very scrumptious breakfast. It was quite reasonably priced.

For sheer atmosphere only, I love Hungry Bear for lunch. Watching the boats go by, seeing Tom Sawyer's Island, feeding the ducks, just wonderfully relaxing.
I also don't mind the food.

Village Haus is a very nice, fairy-tale atmosphere that is fun to be in. It is hard to find a table, sometimes, though.

If I can afford it, I really love the Barbeque place behind Big Thunder. Good food, music, all you can eat. LOve it.

I really love it all! Hungry Bear, Tomorrowland Terrace, Rancho Del Zocalo, French Market (before the menu change), Village Haus, Golden Horseshoe, Stage Door Cafe, Plaza Inn, Redd Rocketts Pizza Port, Farmers Market (before it closed), Taste Pilots Grill, Cocina Cucamonga, Lucky Fortune Cookery, Tiki Juice Bar, Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor, Etc.

I've always wanted to try Big Thunder BBQ, but it's just too expensive.

Gotta get a corn dog (now that the CDC is open, I'll probably get one after riding Mermaid everytime!), or some frozen apple juice in regards to portable items.

As for sitting down, DL would have to be a tie with the Harbor Gallery with Clam Chowder and the Hungry Bear restaurant. Both serene places to sit. At DCA, Taste Pilots Grill, hands down. They have milkshakes and ribs, which wins me over. I'm crossing my fingers for shakes at the new Paradise Grill, but it doesn't look like there will be any. Sigh, guess I'll just have to wait for Flo's next year...

The top floor seating area of the Hungry Bear is one of my favorite places in all of DL, so yeah it's one of my favorite restaurants. My number ONE favorite is Cafe Orleans. I also love Plaza Inn for pasta and salad, and Riverbelle Terrace for breakfast (hello Mickey Mouse pancakes!). I have yet to eat at Carnation Cafe, but it's one that I really want to try.

As far as snacks go...Dole Whip, mint julep, churro. In that order.

I really don't have any attachment to any of the places in DCA, but I've been meaning to try Wine Country Trattoria and I look forward to trying the new restaurants.

If Downtown Disney counts, we love Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen and eat there often.

Got the Tiki Room Dole pineapple ice cream the other day for the first time. Now I understand why there's that line all the time!

Storyteller's Cafe in the Grand Californian was the most amazing bread I've ever had, and a great meal, and I hope sometime I'll get to go with the girl who recommended it to me.

I love the French Market. Not sure about the menu right now but the atmosphere has been a favorite of mine for years. Food wise Carnation Cafe and Cafe Orleans have wonderful menus.
