  • [Idea] Armchair Imagineering: DLR's Halloweentime Ideas, 2.0

With Halloweentime approaching soon here at DLR, I've descided to redo my other Halloweentime thread. Enjoy:

    Decorations and minor overlays:
    - Lighting in both parks would be dimmed down and fog would cover the ground in some lands.

    Disneyland:

    - The entire park would have the scare crows, like DLP, that would be decorated to fit each with land.
    - Main Street would be given lots of fake cobwebs, on the windows, above the street, etc.
    - The Main Street Cinema would play Disney Halloween cartoons.
    - Fantasmic would be replaced with a Villain show where they try to overthrow Mickey.
    - Storybookland would recieve Halloween decorations on the buildings and rides.
    - Blue Bayou would be renamed Boo Bayou. The waiters/CMs would be dressed as ghost from the HM.
    - SMGG would be given 3D projectors, but wouldn't require glasses.
    - HMH's soundtrack would be converted to the original 2001 soundtrack. Only for Hallwoeen though.
    - Frontierland would become Ghost Town.
    - Captain EO would be given a Thriller overlay. The scenes would be reshot to fit a space-zombie invasion.

    DCA:
    - BVS would revieve skeletons collection everywhere, to mimick Main Street's Pumpkins.
    - If there is new partners statue in BVS, it would be replaced with a statue of Jack Skelington and Zero (his ghost dog). On the foutain would be a statue of the Boogie man balancing on one leg holding dice in his hands.
    - MFW would recieve pumpkin versions of the characters heads. Some gondolas would be given a new paint job to fit with the Halloween theme. The big Mickey face on the ride would be covered with a 3D pumpkin version.
    - ToT would have the show that WDS's ToT had for its opening day.
    - Aladdin would be replaced with Villains Tonight, from the Disney Cruise.
    - CF: in the place of the plane by Soarin' would be a cartoon looking plane that has a skeleton pilot and his girlfriend in it (would mimick Plane Crazy, but with skeletons).
    - Instrumentals of Disney villain's songs would play around the park.
    - Muppet Vision would be given a Muppet Halloween Show overlay. Would include a new video and preshow and decorations around the building.
    - Ursula's Villianous Dance Party. A replacement of ElecTRONica, and would be themed around Disney Villians. Their songs would be remixed of to fit the party atmosphere.
    - Pixar's Halloween Festival. A new Pixar parade would have the characters be dressed up and floats decorated.
    - Toy Story Midway Mania Halloween Party. An overlay of TSMM where the characters are hosting a Halloween Party filled with Halloween themed games.
    - SSS would have two new Halloween soundtracks and would swing backwards instead of forwards.
    - GSS would be decorated and the vehicles would be turned backwards.
    - Bugsland would become Candy Corn Acres (updated from the old version) where candy corn decorations would take over the land. The watermelon on Heimlich's would be replaced with the giant candy corn with an AA Heimlich in it. The tops of the leaves would be covered with candy corn to enclose the land. Tuck and Roll would be replaced with a candy corn themed bumper cars. Flik's Flyers vehicles would be rethemed to candy corn boxes. Heimlich's ride would recieve Trick or Treat candies along the ride, but mainly candy corn.
    - The Animation Academy would teach how to draw Disney Villians rather that classic characters.
    - On the brige from Paradise Park to Ariel's Grotto would be an new archway that would be Ursula's head.
    - MJJ would have a special nightime overlay themed to his short, Mater and the Ghostlight.

    Major Overlays:

    Disneyland:
    - Big Thunder Mountain Haunted Mines. For this overlay, the seats would be turned backwards, the lighting and speakers would be more hidden, projectors would be added, and decorations would be added in the queue. The dino skull of the skeleton would be able to detach from the rockwall and roar at guest coming by on the ride. In the little lake would be a train that would be submerging. The ride would start with the Bat Caverns, after you load, the train would continue into the tunnel. An air cannon would be added to give the feeling that bats are flying by you. As you go up the chain lift, there would be a crashed train in the Rainbow Caverns and you could see some body parts coming out, and there would be a projection of bats flying in the distance on the roof. In one of the pools would be a submerged train car. From there you would basicly come out and do the same outdoor portion until you get to the animals, they will be redone to either look like skeletons or zombies come to life. Then you would enter the tunnel and a rock wall (projected) would burst and would show zombie miners. After that, the train would start up the second chain lift, where rockwork wouuld be added to block the view of the backstage area of Fantasyland. Here, an mill powered saw would come to lfe and look like its trying to cut you. After would be the same outdoor sequence , with some added dynamite props along the way. When you enter the collapsing tunnel, instead would be zombie arms reaching out towards you and moving. On the roof where the speakers are would be rockwork covering it, but you can hear the sounds of the moanings of zombies. Then you would go out through the rest of the ride without much changes, except a prop of a smashed train against a mound of rocks. When the train enters the turn into and out of the mountain, before Dino Dig, there would be a projection of a big dynamite barrel thats lit. In the station, there would be the same effect as Expedition Everest did, where steam would come out opf the train and sides to make it seem more real.

    - Bald Mountain, a Matterhorn overlay. This would be themed to Night on Bald Mountain. This would include replacing the abominable snowman with Chernabog AAs and adding projectors (would be of the ghost rising). Throughout the ride, the music from the short would be playing.

    - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Sea. Scene 1: Boo Bayou, not too much changed here, the area would be darker and fog would be all around the water area. The AA of the old man would be replaced a hologram ghost version that would disappear and reappear. After that, there would be complete darkness until after the drop. You can't see the talking skeleton, but can hear his voice still. Scene 2: Haunted Caverns. After the 1st "waterfall" you would enter the caverns where not much is changed, but instead of the voices singing, there would be the sound of breezes going by and hidden fans would blast cool air at the guest. When the boat passes the skeletons, they would come to life and stare at each boat (using sensors). There would be HM type ghost that would pop out in the bedroom and treasure pile. When you get to the waterfall scene, it would be widened a little and project ghost pirates rising from the water. Scene 3: Invasion, Rather than Barbosa fighting pirates defending Captain Jack, he would be having his crew go into the water. In certain spots, there would be water jets that would be under the boat and shake it to give the sence that pirates are grabbing your boat. On the boat, Barbosa and his crew's AAs would be able to turn into their skeleton form, from PotC 1. Scene 4: Village Raid, here, lots of the AAs would either be replaced or removed for referbishment. This would basicly depict the scene from the first Pirates film where Barbosa's crew is raiding the town. Replacing the dunking the mayor, would be where Barbosa's ship is hitting the buildings. New AAs here would be of Pintel and Ragetti (the one with the wooden eye) and some of Barbosa's crew that are raiding a building. The girl who tries convince Carlos to "not be chicken" would come out and yell at the pirrates to go away, but one of the pirates shots at her. Replacing the auction scene would be a big fight scene where an AA Will Turner would be fighting a pirate where the wenches where, and Captain Jack would be on the bridge also fighting a pirate. After that would be a chsing area where the cursed pirates are chasing citizens of the town. The pirates that are drinking from the barrel, the Jack AA in a barrel, and the pirate that brags about having the map and key to the treasure would be taken out. In their place would be some more cursed pirates of Barbosa's crew with Pintel and Ragetti are looking for Elizabeth, who would be hiding in the barrel. The pirates who are chasing the girls would turn to a skeleton when they come out of a buildings structure. The scene with the drunk pirate who's talking to cats would be pitch dark, while he would be in for a referb. The Torch the Town scene would have updated AAs to have Barbosa's crew, not drunk, torching everything. In the water, there would be a F! like effect where fire will follow a hidden, underwater trail. The pirate who tries to keep his balance between the boat and the dock would be replaced with another pirate who's trying to keep his balance, but he would have some loot he stole from a building. The pirate sleeping with pigs would be replaced with a knocked out Will AA. The pirate on the bridge on the bridge would be replaced with one that's standing up having a conversation with the other pirates on the left side. The pirates who are singing with the donkey and dog would be replaced with a couple of pirates who are looking for Elizabeth, one would be knocking on the door while the others would have stuff for kidnapping her. Where the pirates in the jail cells are would be the deck of the Black Pearl where a projection of Barbosa and his crew. Barbosa would say "Better start believing in ghost stories, cause yer in one" as he and his crew turn into skeletons and he tries to drink rum, but it goes through his skeleton. Then you would enter the scene where the pirates where shooting at each other drunk, but here would be Barbosa's crew preparing the ship to leave. Jack's treasure room would be walled off. Then you go up the chain lift. Instead of Davy Jones/Black beard audio playing as you go up, it would be a recording of Barbosa. As you go around the last turn before you get off, where the parrot is, the monkey from the movies would appear in a cage, and would move around, and sometimes turn into his cursed version. The buildings in the bayou and loading area would have lots of cobwebs.

    DCA:
    - Villianous Screams (CS). The vehicles would be redone to have a villian tie-in to each vehicle (Jafar, Dr. Facilier, Ursula, Frollo, Scar, and Chernabog). Each car would have a soundtrack to fit the villain. The cars would be turned backwards. The count down would have the voice of the villian of the vehicle. The tubes along the ride would be fully enclosed.

I like the Bald Mt. idea for Matterhorn...that would be pretty awesome, still Disney related in the "Walt-Era" and fits the theme. Bravo!

On a Disney rollercoaster, you can't turn the seats around, mainly because there is no themeing since you are not supposed to look that way. On CS, you'd recieve some nasty whiplash if you weren't prepared.

Overall, great creativity. However, In think there are way too many projection effects and repaints.

They turned the seats around for DLP's Indy coaster and only had to make some minor adjustments. It would just require you to cover up all the stuff you shouldn't see. CS doesn't really whip you around, as much as GSS or any Six Flags coaster. I can see the problem with GSS backwards, but CS and BTM would work fine.

While I like most of your ideas, most of them are too far out of the realm of practicality to become a reality. As was mentioned above, repainting the Screamin' cars is an example of that. I also doubt they would retheme three large AA's to brand new ones for barely a month of operational time and at least two weeks of downtime to put the AA's in.
