  • Space Mountain and the Basilica of Guadalupe

Okay so yesterday it was a special day here in Mexico, we celebrate the anniversary of the apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe (and also my little sis' b-day). Down in Mexico City, millions of people go to the Basilica of Guadalupe to pray and congradulate Virgin Mary. Some time ago I looked at a picture of the Basilic and noticed it had a very strong resemblance to Space Mountain. Not to mention it was openened almost the same year... 1976. Jugde for yourself:

It kinda does look like Space, doesn't it?
    I have a dream
    A song to sing
    To help me cope
    Trough everything

    If you see the wonder
    of a FairyTale
    You can take the future
    even if you fail...

    I believe in Angels
Something good in everything I see
    I believe in Angels
When I know the time is right for me...

Erm... yeah.... but if I've gotta be honest, it reminds me more of the DLP Discoveryland Jules Verne Space Mountain, not the DL old-Discoveryland-wannabe-Tomorrowland new-Matt Ouimet-cool-Tomorrowland Space Mountain. Did that come out right?

Re: Space Mountain and the Basilica of Guadalupe

I swear I saw the Virgin of Guadalupe appear in the flying cookie in the old Space Mountain.

It all makes so much sense now........

<--- has no clue what Speedway was trying to say!

But yeah, I can definately see Space in that photo. Kinda funny. They don't have FastPass choking up the entrance, do they?

And is there a LIM launch and a loop??

Look at this, they're almost identical:

It's John Hench's original rendering of Space Mountain, BTW.
