The elevation of car culture through a physical monument, like Carsland, is potentially problematic as increasing numbers of people come to curse the role of cars in creating the development pattern of homogeneous suburban sprawl that now saddles the United States with a biologically-, ecologically-, and economically-unsustainable built environment that has poorly-conceived and expensive-to-maintain infrastructure coupled with near-complete dependence on oil.
