  • Well, my Christmas Eve experience at the DLR could have been perfect...

But the fireworks were cancelled. I hate when that happens. My husband and I took my mom and dad to DL for Christmas eve. We had a lovely time, we ate the the Blue Bayou (pretty good food but the prime rib I had, had a LOT of fat on it) and after all of that we hustled ourselves in front of the castle (both my parents were in wheelchairs) and we parked ourselves and waited for 2 1/2 hours.

I was really dissapointed when the fireworks never happened.

It happened last week on Dec 19th a Monday, because of High Winds.
Sorry to hear it happened to you.

Yeah it was cancelled for the weather. I guess fog is a good enough excuse to cancel the fireworks? I always thought that you'd still be able to see the fireworks through the fog, but I guess not? I dunno. The wind was blowing away from us though. So fallout wouldn't have been a problem.

I think you couldn't have seen them. I have never seen fog so thick as I did on Christmas Eve. I mean I couldn't even see the lampost in front of my house. It was as thick as....

We were there on Christmas Eve too. I guess it's a good thing we didn't stay for the fireworks! I hope you still had a good time though!

Yeah, my boyfriend's and my anniversary when we went. We waited for about 2 hours

I feel your pain, viewaskewniverse. I bet it was even more hell because of the wheelchairs.

We saw them releasing balloons up into the air at the different spots we would assume the Haunted Mansion gallery portion would occupy. They flew way diagonally. Not good.

As much as I love the Remember fireworks, I hope they stop launching fireworks from the buildings next year. Fireworks used to be cancelled only when it was actually WINDY.

Now it's as touchy as the Golden Zephyr.

Yeah I was watching for those balloons too, but they never released any from behind the castle. I didn't take a look down main street though. They might have released some there as well.

They were canceled the day before on the 23rd as well. I had met some friends who don't go to DLR very often, and looked to me as their "DL expert" to show them around. I led them to a perfect spot right in front of the "partners" statue, about an hour and a half before showtime and I was excited because I knew they would enjoy the show... but when that first announcement came I knew it was a bad sign. Come to think of it, the previous time I had tried to see them they were also canceled in November! That wind issue must be worse than I thought.
