[Question] Does anyone STILL prefer Sunshine Plaza over Buena Vista Street?

I was just looking up pics for BVS online and came across Sunshine Plaza pics mixed in as well. I didn't think it would be a big deal, but when I looked at them I was a bit floored at how bad it all holds up. Considering what they are doing now, with all of the gorgeous new building and creating a classic looking space, Sunshine Plaza was such a garish Ugly bit of business.

Does anyone truly miss it or prefer it over BVS? I supposed there will be those 1 or 2 people who will never warm up to the new area, but I honestly can't imagine that many people (after the initial shock of its removal) will be too upset that Sunshine plaza is gone.

Nope. Not gonna miss Sunshine Plaza at all. Just like I don't miss Superstar Limo. Buena Vista Street is a huge improvement. It's amazing to think that the California Adventure is getting two whole new lands this summer. Both I'm looking forward to seeing this summer.

I kinda liked the old California music loop in the area. I'm not sure about how I feel about the rest of the section, but I imagine the Buena Vista Street section should turn out real good.
      My top favorite Disneyland attractions:

      1. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
      2. Pirates of the Caribbean
      3. Splash Mountain
      4. Mad Tea Party
      5. Peter Pan's Flight
      6. Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin

My only regret is I don't think there have been many video walkthroughs of sunshine plaza or its stores. I'd really like for its terribleness to be captured on video and made viewable for both nostalgia and side by side comparison videos.

I'm super excited for BVS, but I do miss some things about the old entrance. Mainly, the murals and the California themed music loop.

No I don't. I love sunshine plaza don'tget me wrong. But I just go with the flow and I am going to love BVas much as I did SP. Reality is this they aren't going to tear downBV St. and rebuild sunshine plaza so I might as well just live withit!

Oh I have there arn't that many around of good quality mostly because i'd guess nobody cared too strongly. There are a few from opening though clips recorded from back then were somewhat subpar. It would've been really nice to have gotten some high res video of it all back in 2008

Of course BVS is going to be a million times better! I guess there's a part of me that would miss SP. I walked through it many times for nearly a decade!

Here's the thing.... I really don't think Buena Vista Street is all that much of an improvement. The Sunshine Plaza had it's flaws to be sure, but it was something different. The postcard entrance to the park was completely different to anything Disney had done before. The giant water fountain under the sun, with it's programmable waves was really fun to sit and watch and it was a really laid back and casual atmosphere.

Buena Vista Street will be, for all intents and purposes, Main Street The Sequel. I just can't really get all that excited over it. Not that I was ever excited for the Sunshine Plaza either, but as I have said before, if I were to choose between Buena Vista Street or Main Street, Main Street wins every time. Since they are more easily comparable now, they are in direct competition.

The only thing I absolutely hate about the new entrance is the turnstiles. That pan pacific wreck doesn't match anything else, in color or style, to the rest of the land. At the very least they could have painted it the original brown color. I definitely prefer the old entrance to that.

Why does it have to be a competition between the two? MS and BVS are so different. MS is supposed to be an idealized turn of the century small town... while BVS is supposed to be an actual recreation of a real place. Yes I do see that they are both streets that act as entrances but that doesn't mean one has to be better than the other. Also the comment that the new turnstiles don't match anything stylistically then the imagineers are actually succeeding at what they set out to do. It has been stated before than BVS is supposed to be a coming together of the many different prominent styles of architecture that existed in Los Angeles in the 20s and 30s, things are supposed to be matchy matchy like they are on MS.

Main street is middle America....this is suppose to be LA....though they both are opening for parks...and are "around" the same time period...they are pretty different.

I would wait to see the finished product before before just writing it off.....I'm sure with the music...the Trolly cars...and seeing it there in person..you'll fall in love with the land if you give it a chance
