  • [Other] It's NAMM time again

Just a reminder that the NAMM show will be at the Convention Center 1/24-1/27.
It's the biggest music industry convention in the U.S. Although it is a "Trade Only" show, meaning badges are needed to get in, there is a lot of music going on that is free to the public at the nearby hotels. The Marriott usually has some great bands in the late afternoon-eveing and there is a super jam at the Hilton on Friday 1/25, about 9pm, with a lot of big name sidemen.

If you live in the area, heck out the local clubs, there may be some cool events going on around town.

Also keep in mind that this convention packs the surrounding streets for blocks every year, and makes Katella a literal sea of cars. Bring an extra dose of patience if you plan to make it a Park day while this is going on.

Oh, NAMM...I have no credentials whatsoever that would ever get me a badge to that show but I would absolutely love to go in there one day.

I was thinking of going to the park on Monday and now I'm rethinking...do a lot of attendees roll into town early and hit Disneyland?

Barely even noticeable in the parks.

The thing is this convention is on the West Coast because of the music industry centered in Hollywood. Like Ortizmo2000 said the street become a mess because it's locals going to the convention in thier cars. Also the hotels and restaurants get busy, very busy nearby the convention center hotels on Harbor south of Katella.

The Monday before or after should not be a problem.
I just noticed "Tower of Power"(not to be confused w/TOT) on the Main Stage on Thursday,6pm. I could be very, very wrong, but I believe the Main Stage is in the lobby of the C.C. No badge required.

This will be the I first time in 12 years I will not be attending NAMM. Sad times.

Elton John will be plying the Hyperion Theater in CA Adv. on the Friday of NAMM for a Yamaha private event. Yamaha puts on a SHOW for their dealers NAMM weekend. I've been to 3, 2 at the Hyperion and 1 at the Honda Center. Bummed to miss this, but Elton played the first Yamaha dealer NAMM event I attended, along with a TON of other artists paying tribute to him.

The 2 Hyperion gigs were also great. Even used my AP to sneak into line early for a good seat!
