  • [Question] Grad nights....Bad time to visit Disneyland or California Adventure?

    Hello Everyone,
We are visiting Disneyland June 15th-22nd. I see that three of those nights fall on Grad Nights. I was wondering how busy and well, rowdy those nights get. Thanks in advance for your reply's.

It sucks if you dislike extremely obnoxious people. I would strongly recommend not going if you have young kids with you, as the grad nite kids will literally scream curse words just for no reason.

Like Frollofan said, I'd rather go during a time when that is not happening. Just kind of takes away from the Disneyland experience ..at least for me.

I will be there with my family the same week, June 18-22. When I made the reservation I was thinking about passholder blackout dates and not grad night.

I have small kids (3 & 5) so won't be closing the parks, but what time do the grad night kids start streaming in?

I agree with the others. If there's any possible way to avoid Grad Nites, do so.

Their tickets now allow them to enter the parks at any time during the day, IIRC.

Id imagine if you got there at opening and hung around til 2pm or so it would be less annoying than if you started your day there at 2pm.

Okay, so I did a bit of research. Based on the dates of your trip, here are the dates they will/will not have Grad Nite.

                  NO GRAD NITE: June 15, 16, 17, 21, 22

                  GRAD NITE: 18, 19, 20

I hope this helps you out in planning your trip. Safe travels!

Grad Nites. New format this year so things will be different in some ways.

Grad Nites for from the 2nd week of May to the 3rd week of June and are on Wednesday- Friday night. The Party is 11pm to 3am in DCA. Grads get park hoppers to use during the day. They also got 2 FPs which may not be continuing this year.

If you go early in the season(May) they aren't too bad. Kids trickle in through the day and show up in mass after 5 PM. Evening is busy. May is generally a slow month so when the parks stay open later than 8, those grads are giving you bonus hours since the host park stays open later and you can stay until the party starts.

If you go late, post Memorial Day and especially into June, the Grads have graduated, school out. More show up early, particularily late morning. Also being summer for other the parks are busy in general. For most part the teens are noticeable but very mixed in to the normal big crowds.

Do a couple a few things. See WoC it requires a FP, so teens just can't squeeze in. Ride slow rides, it's a bummer but the teens are going on fast E tickets. Snow White won't have a line. Use FP for the big rides, Space and RSR will have crazy long lines as the Grads gravitate toward the thrills. Have a slow dinner, they don't have money and won't all be spending time sitting down to eat. Arrive early, the kids often meet at 8am at their school, you can be in the park for an hours or two before their buses start to arrive.
                    Be Cool Stay in School!
Next year I'm trying for a summer internship at Stark Industries.

I've been on many grad nights, and for the most part they're ok. It's when they travel in packs. That's when you have to worry When they're in packs, they get louder and more obnoxious, everyone trying to outdo and impress everyone else. So...it's not ALL bad.

Under the old model.. yes. Under the new model.. nope they get to mix in during the normal park hours! Dumbest move ever for guest sat.

I'll be chaperoning a group of students next Thursday. Someone mentioned WoC... I'm curious, it says the park closes at 9...but WoC is at 9:15pm. Does that mean WoC is only for the Grads?

I'd have to imagine the posted showing of WoC is for the general audience, and that the Grad Nite showing would be sometime between 11pm and 3am. I would expect them to not publish the Grad Nite showing in the general schedule, or else non-grads would assume they could go to that show, too. It's normal for them to have a WoC showing 15 mins after te park closes.
