  • [Question] Would Haunted Mansion have still been a walkthrough if Walt had live to see it open?

I know Imagineering was toying with the idea of a higher capacity for the attraction at the time Walt was still alive.

I would assume not because perhaps Walt would have been able to see the omnimover's success with ATIS in moving large amounts of people in a short amount of time and its capability of directing guests at a certain show scene.

The lessons of the NY Worlds Fair sealed Disneyland's future. (As Walt was alive to see that happen himself)

Gone were the "walk through" ideas ... that would slow down the flow through of people.

      And with that ...

      * Edison Square .... became CoP
      * Pirate Wax Muesum walk through .. became PotC boat ride

And it was a natural progression to do the same with the Haunted Mansion

Dear Peoplemover Fans, If you want to see a new attraction that at least mimics the 1967 Peoplemover in a future Tomorrowland remodel, you need to write to the powers-that-be, and let them know. If you don't - Then the next time Tomorrowland is remodeled, you will see a land barren of any "Peoplemover" type attraction.
