  • [Idea] DCA Jumpin' Jellyfish converted into an Oz Hot Air balloon ride

Since Disney's California Adventure has gotten redone a lot and Paradise Pier is hardly California anymore and is mostly just Disney-related rides, I thought adding an Oz ride would be amazing. I thought I'd just throw this idea out there.
Jump Jellyfish is always a 5 minutes wait at DCA but if they decide to convert it into an Oz ride, it could become more popular since the movie is very popular currently (and soon to become a movie series)

    Here's some ideas.
-Make Jumpin' Jelly somewhat taller, it's only 40ft. Maybe make it 20 to 30 feet taller.
-Instead of 2 person jelly fish, make it a hot balloon with the basket so that 4 people can fit, much like the ride in Bugs Land - if a parent of two children wanted to ride together, they could and the ride is somewhat thrilling for youngsters.
-Also make the queue line a yellow brick road.

I'm just throwing some ideas out there.

Oz the Great and Powerful was a huge hit film, making
    $491,148,000 in the box office.
While the ride maybe simple, it would be better than Jumpin' Jellyfish in my opinion.

It was a moderate hit. I don't think anyone considers it a huge hit, but it definitely pulled in respectable box office numbers.

They should make it like the parachutes Knott's used to have! I have fond memories of that growing up!

^ I wish! I was always too chicken to ride them but i loved seeing them go up and down. Unfortunately I think the reason they are no longer around is that the parts that made the parachutes what they were are obsolete. It became very expensive to maintain. Or that could have been the line Cedar Fair gave Knott's at the time. I really don't know.
Still if anyone can solve a rides problem, WDI usually can!

Why is it that whenever a new Disney movie comes out people automatically try to figure out how to replace a ride with the movie theme?

They've been well trained by Disney.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.
            -Walt Disney

I was pretty disgusted to see YouTube comments on some of those Mystic Manor videos along the lines of "I want them to do a Mystic Manor Holiday with Jack Skellington".

                  Theme it all to franchises!

But seriously, adding the Oz franchise would do nothing to enhance the ride. Literally, nothing.

The problem is: people who saw Oz the Great and Powerful don't want to be reminded of it. Ever.

That is kind of the idea I was going for.

Because Disney twists their new movies into some sort of attraction.
TRON + Alice in Wonderland got the dance area, and Oz got better reviews according to Rotten Tomatoes than both of those movies combined (51%).

Don't judge opinions on theme park rides on Rotten Tomatoes. It's just as bad as imdb.

Not only does this have nothing to do with California, but it was a horrible movie. No thank you.

Very, very true. If it had been a stand alone movie, without tying it into the whole Wizard of Oz theme, I might have had an overall impression of the movie. But, with it being an Oz movie and being so bad compared to the first one. And the story line being an exact rip off of the past, it was just bad all the way around. It is one of only two Disney movie's that I have ever turned off before it was over. I lasted 45 painstaking minutes of Oz and that was about 40 minutes too long. I actually received it from Disney Movie Club, and it was the first movie ever I felt like I got ripped off on, that I was truly ashamed to have in my collection. The fact that Amazon is only paying $2 for it to buy it back, shows it's not in as high demand as they thought it would be.
