Utilize the wait time apps if you are able, like Mousewait. It will help a lot.

Get a cream cheese pretzel and a Dole Whip. They're worth every cent.

If you are doing DCA, make Cars Land your absolute first stop in the morning and get there early. Do Radiator Springs Racers first and then go from there. That way it's out of the way and it won't be as crowded as it would be the rest of the day.

Inside Disneyland, do the big attractions first and earlier. Rides like Indiana Jones and Space Mountain get a hefty wait time pretty quickly. If you miss the early window you can also utilize the FP system the best you can. My go-to rides for FP are always Splash Mountain and Space Mountain.

      Stay hydrated.
Merrily on our way to nowhere at all.

This blog post from the website Theme Park Insider is a pretty good planning guide for visiting Disneyland:

        Plan your day at Disneyland

        And California Adventure:

Be sure to pay attention to the little details. They're everywhere, and it's part of what sets Disney apart from the rest.

Very welcome. Also don't forget to ride the Disneyland Railroad all through the park. It's fun.

                      1. Main st. party lines (which you can find in most shops) are totally awesome.
                      2. (Can't remember if it's Main st. or New Orleans Square station) but either one plays a beeping which is Walt's opening day speech in Morse code.
                      3. Main st. pumps out a sweet smell in to the air.
                      4. Hidden mickeys - ask a cast member if you aren't aware of these.
                      5. The windows above the shops on Main st. and in Paradise Pier as well as Buena Vista St. honor and reward the many brilliant minds in the Disney and Disneyland projects and companies, - they usually refer to inside jokes Walt or other people had with these designers, imagineers, etc.
                      6. The Golden Horseshoe quick service restaurant used to be Walt's favourite place to hang out in the parks - the booth on the lower level on the right was Walt's, the one on the left was his brother Roy's.
                      7. Disneyland ducks that lurk everywhere.
                      8. There are edible fruits that grow in fenced off areas in Tomorrowland (best seen from the monorail) which were grown as a reference to the future being about progress and innovation. Don't try to eat them because it is likely you will get in trouble
                      9. In New Orleans Square look above the buildings - you will see a grand ship's sails high above the tops of the building (referring to the Columbia, or however you spell it.) To create the effect of being a citizen walking the streets of New Orleans and being able to see the ship in the port.
                      10. Club 33.
                      11. While exiting the colourful room in Winnie The Pooh, above the doorway you'll see the moose heads from The Country Bear Jamboree.
                      12. The cement in Frontierland has horseshoes imprinted on the ground, though you may have seen this before, I personally really appreciate that kind of attention to detail

These are just some of my favourites, the holy grail of Disneyland secrets are on this website: hiddenmickeys.org/Disneyland/Secrets.html
The website has not been updated for years, but it's incredibly immense in size.

You really need to crane your neck for this but it is really worth it - and makes the rest of the ride almost tolerable.
