  • News Disneyland to buy and build new parking lot

According to the Orange County Register,Disneyland is in the process of buying the land on the corner of Harbor blvd and Ball road to construct a new parking lot. They are buying up the Anaheim RV park and the auto repair place. The lot will be home to 1400 spaces for employees. This will open up the Toy Story lot to be expanded for guests.

Very much hope this is true - I've heard far too many horror stories from CMs about the current situation.

i wonder if it is the same land disneyland and city of anaheim were fighting over a few years ago....

city of anaheim wanted to build low income housing there, and disney wouldnt have it...

Good location, very close to the TDA building and park.

Seems like a better location for cast members. Hopefully, it's a parking structure.

From a Google satellite view I counted about 200 spaces for RVs with about 75 being used. I don`t know what time of the year the photo was taken.I think this is great for Disney but was wondering were about 100 RVs would have to go for overnight parking

If true, this is good news for the CMs. That auto repair place (I think) has been closed for a while. The RV park is always pretty full, though.

It will likely be a structure as the proposed area is only half the size of K-lot. I wonder if Ball lot will be consolidated into that structure as well and what will they build in it's place.
Many Bothans died to bring you these fastpasses.

                    Isn't it obvious? Marvelatarwarsland!

But seriously... this WOULD be a good first step towards the eventual third park... get Disneyland's employee parking fixed before you add a third to the size of the complex.

Actually the article (which nobody has posted the actual link to yet) says Disney intends the lot to hold 1400 spaces. Since the rule of thumb is usually around 110-140 spaces per acre, and the land is about 11 acres in size, it seems Disney only intends to level it and have it be a flat lot.

I'm kind of surprised at this, really. Isn't the Simba lot usually empty? Is Simba used for CM's or guests or hotel workers or what?

The local Wal-Mart? They generally allow RV's to park in their lots overnight.

From the looks of it (Google Maps), if they did build there, they could almost construct a walking bridge that goes from the SW corner of the parking structure to the NE back corner of the park (near some offices).

                            Thanks for the link.

Simba at the northern part does have parking for the Hotel Employees but is also used for guest parking on rare very busy days.

In any case if this does happen it means two things.

                            1. Less places for low price housing(some of the people in the RVs are living in them not traveling) and less for RV vacationers.
                            2. A good step to decentralize non essential stuff so the parks can expand.

Every once in a while, Anaheim PD has to direct traffic turning left off of Ball past the M&F structure to avoid backing up the intersections. These cars are usually sent to the Simba lot.
