  • [Review] Jingle Cruise Rocks!

I just went on the Jingle Cruise today and it was awesome! I know that someone had a bad time on it but I think that it was just a bad skipper. I really recommend it to everybody!

There was christmas songs playing in the que and the boats were decked out with ornaments and holly. There were the regular Jungle Cruise jokes and some holiday ones. But what I think this will all depend on is the skipper.

It's sounds like you may have just had a good skipper. That alway makes the cruise better.

I guess what I'm more curious is this: What about the "Jingle Cruise" elements specifically, and not just your skipper generally, made you enjoy the ride?

How long have you been the manager of the Jungle Cruise?
And when does TDA give you your Christmas bonus?

The ride, after the first time at least, is 90% the skipper. I know what the hippos look like and what the piranhas do. What I don't know is how the skipper will deliver their jokes or if there'll be any new ones thrown in. To separate the ride from the skipper is an entirely unfair question, I think.

The OP said he enjoyed the JINGLE Cruise. I was simply asking what, apart for the skipper (which is a part of BOTH versions of the ride), made the OP especially enjoy the JINGLE Cruise. Acceptable answers include:

                a. "The Holiday-themed jokes were fantastic!"
                b. "The new decorations were astounding!"
                c. "I loved the new hats!"

I was simply pointing out that saying the JINGLE Cruise "rocked" because you had an especially good skipped is not really a review of the overlay, but instead pertains more to one skipper.

                Essentially, the OP said:

So I was curious about whether the overlay elements really are worth the effort, or if its a same-old same-old "the ride depends entirely on the skipper" type situation.

Irrespective of how "well written" the holiday joke is, wouldn't the deliver of said joke and therefore the comedic impact of said joke be entirely dependent on the Skipper?

I thought it was clever how they had the que decorated in christmas themed decorations and I'm glad that they didn't go overboard with the ride.

Even the regular Jungle Cruise depends to a great extent on the skipper's delivery/enthusiasm, not at all surprised that the Jingle Cruise depends on how the spiel is delivered. Even a lame joke can be funny if delivered sarcastically enough.

It's been said that a decent comic can make a grocery shopping list sound funny!

My point is that you can't really remove the Skipper from the overall Jungle Overlay any more than you can remove specific actors/actresses from a play. The Skipper is merely another element in an overall show.

It is a live show. The experience the Guests receive is directly impacted by how well the Skipper does, irrespective of the material they are allowed to chose from. I'd argue that's likely the most influential element. Second would be the holiday decor. Third would be ambiance (holiday music for example). Yes you can separate individual layers but it is the combination that provides the experience. The sum being greater than the parts and too much of any one part jeopardizes the dish.
