  • [Question] The Aladdin Show in DCA no longer running after Jan. 20th?

    Hey all

I'm planning a trip with a friend who's never been to Disney California Adventure before on Jan. 26th. I've been telling her how hilarious the Aladdin show at the Hyperion Theater in DCA is (Aladdin's her favorite Disney movie), but when we looked at the official calendar we saw that the show isn't scheduled after Jan. 20th. Does anyone know why this could be the case? Thanks!
    Peace Love Eeyore

I'm glad it's just a refurb! I love this show.

Refurbishment for a stage show??????? That sounds like B.S.

It really looks like they are just closing down some of the entertainment and attractions only because it's a slower season, and of course to save the bucks.

Didn't MiceChat say that Colglazier closed stuff down at Animal Kingdom, at certain times, just to save the bucks? Looks like his penny pinching tactics are in full force on the West Coast now.

I thought in the last few years Aladdin always "goes dark" for about a month.

They are indeed upgrading the lighting and some of the rigging...I was just at a showing where not more then 10 min it they hit the all stop and could not resume due to jammed scenery and rigging issue...so it is indeed going down for a "refurb"...not I am sure that the timing of the off seasons and some of the other factors play into why they chose now to do it rather than just peak season.

It's being moved over to the sub lagoon as a new underwater show. Aladdin and the magic water carpet.

I'm happy that the actors and (hopefully) regular crew will be getting a refurb rest so that they will all be fresh when they perform for me in the future. Don't want those magical performers falling off of the flying carpet.

They just cast some new actors, no? It's not going anywhere for a while.

And yes, I'm glad that it's getting a refurbishment. Take the time to maintain the stage and to keep the technical elements in line. Whether or not there is a factor of closing stuff down to save money, I don't blame them. Running a show with a cast this large costs a lot of money.
