Beginning July 9, Disneyland will debut a new interactive experience throughout Frontierland utilizing entertainment, merchandise, food, and other opportunities to become party of the wild west story.
The experience is called “Legends of Frontierland: Gold Rush” and will allow theme park guests to develop their own characters while exploring the area to continue their own personalized tale.

    Here’s Disney’s official description:

Frontierland and its neighbor, Rainbow Ridge, are in the midst of a good, ol’ fashioned land feud. Rainbow Ridge – a once-booming mining town – has dried up, and they have their eyes set on Frontierland. The steady, hardworking folk in Frontierland want to keep the town safe and free of rougharound-the-edges, opportunistic types. Rumors are spreading that gold has been discovered in mines belonging to Frontierland, and there is even a rumor that Frontierland itself sits on the motherlode! Whether or not the rumors are true, the folk in Rainbow Ridge have one thing on their minds: take over Frontierland! Thus, the struggle begins..

    YES! So happy about this.
    Fear of the unknown.

They are afraid of new ideas.

They are loaded with prejudices, not based upon any reality, but based on… if something is new, I reject it immediately because it’s frightening to me. What they do instead is just stay with the familiar.
You know, to me, the most beautiful things in all the universe, are the most mysterious.

How interesting. Rainbow Ridge Mining Co. and the Big Thunder Mining Co. seem to be rivaling mining companies in this story set up. While it is a bit confusing when you really think long and hard about how both companies are staked on pretty much the same lands, I do find it as a cute throwback to the older attraction.

I'm not a fan. But it doesn't effect me in any way so, whatever.

I'll wait and see before making a judgement. One thing that I already don't like is Disney is taking another live show away from the Golden Horseshoe. I wasn't a huge fan of Laughing Stock but it was something. I hope Legends of Frontierland bring something to the stage that I can sit and have my chili cheese fries and Coke without staring at an empty stage.

Meh. Not something that would interest me. But if it sidetracks people away from the lines for rides, I'm all for it!!!

This is the future of theme parks. Hope they can make it work.

I think it's stupid and hope it fails miserably. If this is the future of theme parks then you can count me as a former fan of theme parks.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.

                    Proofreading?

I haven't seen enough information to form an opinion. It seems very vague at the moment.

Hmm. I appreciate how it focuses on the back story of the land, but it really seems like a cheap ploy to sell a bunch of merchandise. I hope thats not the case, and that its a fun & original experience. Maybe if it gets popular enough (unlikely), it would give them the push they need for a Frontierland expansion?

This is very much a placeholder for the rest of the year... Expect something "new" in the Horseshoe tied to the 60th.

It''s incredibly sad that the Golden Horseshoe, which has hosted a variety of shows, and incredible performers for nearly 60 years, since BEFORE Disneyland even opened, has shut out Both the Billies and the Laughing Stock not only out of Frontierland, but the entire Disneyland Resort.
                          ' ;
What is replacing the old fashioned shows? Some lame, odd mix of 'self entertainment' which will not be understood by the vast majority of DL Guests, mixed with some "secret menu" at the bar, and a cheap trinket stand with items that could be found in the discount bins of the local dollar store selling @ 10 for a buck.

Guests who enter the Golden Horseshoe, expecting a show, as it has provided for nearly 60 years, will be sadly disappointed, and wonder the the heck is going on.

"Placehollder?" - Why the HECK didn't Entertainment get their Butts in action LONG AGO, when they KNEW DL was going to can the Bilies and Laughing Stock? Oh, that's right, they did! And this lame *** wooden nickle hunt in the Golden Horseshoe was the BEST they could come up with. To suggest that thiis is only "temporary" until next year, sounds like someone at Disneyland is already giving this new temporary wooden nickle thing that thumbs down. Good Grief , just cancel this temporary Frontierland Wooden Nickle thing, spend the budget on something ellse ! ANY OTHER Type of entertainment!

I don't believe this new type of entertainment will do much to bring in business to the food counter in the Horseshoe!

I know the test run they did for this was in the Golden Horseshoe, but am I overlooking something? The official announcement seems to imply the activity is somehow "throughout" Frontierland, rather than just in one spot... I didn't actually even see mention of the saloon.

I know it's reasonable to assume this will be basically that same spiel, but I'm not so sure at this point?
