  • News Disneyland Mine Train Cars to Appear at Walt's Barn

Just announced during Walt's Barn 15th anniversary ceremony: The Mine Train Thru Nature's Wonderland engine and two cars from the ROA banks will be refurbished and put on display at Walt's Barn in Griffith Park under a long-term lease agreement with the Walt Disney Company. Hurray!

A fundraising campaign will begin soon!

Considering how bad they looked while sitting beside the ROA, that will quite a restoration. Glad to hear it.

Nothing - the stretch of track along the river where they were has been set-dressed for a while as a rockslide having broken the tracks, I believe, and there's still a mine entrance nearby. The mountain lion static figures can be seen in this vicinity as well.

Then the Mark Twain should be down for a few days, while the edit the speil and put it in, unless this has already been done.

As an idea for its replacement, how about a recreation of the Bear Country scene, except with more modern technology (like fur for the bears that won't last such a short time they'll have to drain the RoA regularly)

The Mark Twain spiel was changed nearly a year (or more) ago, with appearances by some character voices along the way and references to the added scenes (Mike Fink's keelboat and cabin, for one).

I meant specifically the line about "those there marmots taking over that wrecked train", referencing the train wreck.

Where the wrecked train used to be is at about 11:37 in this video, and that dialogue is not used - hasn't been in referencing the train ever since it was gone that I recall (and maybe even not explicitly mentioned before that by narration for a while), and definitely not after the redo of the whole Mark Twain audio in recent years.

                    Ah, I see

So will it be refurbished for display use, or will it ride the rails once more?

It will be on display at Walt's barn in Griffith Park, Los Angeles - sounds like the Carolwood Pacific society is raising funds to refurbish it, with permission of the Disney company.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. Will it be a static display, or will the train actually operate?

I can't imagine it will operate, but don't have final information on that - they do already run small-scale live steam trains in the park in that section, but I figure as this is an 'antique' and historical it shall just be there to look at.

                            You're probably right.

But enough of my and Region's conversation, what say you others?
