  • Food and Wine weekends at the resort

Disney has officially announced Food and Wine weekends at the DLR, to take place April 28 to May 21. Some of the things sound really interesting. The Napa Rose cooking school sounds cool, but a bit pricey.

    Here's the link.

Lets see if this is as big as a hit (with it's modifications) as the Epcot Food and Wine Festival... Maybe next they can work on improving Celeberty Weekends... (that soundstage from millionare is empty right?)

i can't wait to see how they do the wine and festival at DCA. i think its a great idea. i just hope they pull it off well. I really want to do some of the classes, and dinners as well, just doubt i could pull it off. if not, i can always go sample some wines and food over at DCA

I'm a player for at least a couple of them.

Time to call the DL Hotel and see about making reservations...

            Bon-apetite!

Hmm. This doesn't sound that much like Epcots. Seems more like school then just eating some good food. I don't see where it says there is just food to be eaten without taking a class or something.

Looks like fun! I'm in for a lunch the D-land hotel and some wine/beer tasting!

I read the schedule and am I little disappointed with two issues:

                  1) They are limiting the cuisine to California. I was hoping that they would feature the wonderful variety of food from immigrants to California. We are such a melting pot it would be fun to taste my way around the world.

                  2) The flier did not mention any booths like they have at Epcot. I looks like they are doing the EXPENSIVE dining opportunities, but nothing for those of us on a budget. The exclusive chef meals at Epcot are over a hundred bucks a person. I was hoping for something more reasonable.

I was hopind for something more reasonable too. I was hoping they'd open up some now-defunct eateries in DCA (Lucky Fortune Cookery, Maliburritos, San Andreas Shakes, Bountiful Valley Farmer's Market, etc etc) and serve some non-typical delicious foods. It could be a perfect opportunity to serve up some fare that is authentic to cultures that are found in the great Californian melting pot - numerous cities have China towns, a couple of them world-famous. Many have Little Tokyos, others have world-famous Mexican sects and "streets" - i.e: Los Angeles' Olivera Street.

Kind of a shame that Disney is watering this down and making it into a big large ticket-price multi-event event. Oh well.. maybe they'll expand it next year if this year's events are a hit.

I want to see Disney make food anywhere in the resort that is authentic to any culture. So far, we just have cheap Americanised knock-off crap. Meh. The Food & Wine Festival would have been the prime opportunity to get some authentic foods, but nope, no luck.
