on "accident"? I knew someone who went back there and just acted like he belonged there. No one questioned him! I couldn't pull a stunt like that. I would be too afraid of getting caught!
"He who knows only his own side of the case, knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them. But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side; if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion" --John Stuart Mill

Me too! Why risk getting thrown out of the park?

I've gone backstage at WDW though when I was on a tour. Trust me, backstage is nothing special. Roy Disney once said "Keep the money in the show." That means that you shouldn't waste money on areas that guests can't see - and Disney doesn't.

Now, going backstage at an attraction - that's cool. I got to see the AAs up close at the American Adventure in Epcot's World Showcase. But, going backstage and seeing dumpsters, backsides of buildings, cast parking lots...or even the much-talked-about Utilidors - nothing special!

Take my advice: If you want to go backstage, do it the legal way - TAKE A TOUR!!!!!! The Walt in Walt's Footsteps is a great tour to take at DL. We got to go into the lobby of Club 33...and step into the glass elevator. We didn't get to go upstairs though *mutters* Also, we went backstage at the Disney Gallery. It was originally going to be an aparment for Walt. Now, it's just office space, but you can see how it was originally designed for bedrooms, etc.

Have fun at Disneyland - ONSTAGE!!! :yea:

Never accidentally, but I couldn't disagree with Disneyprincess more.

If you want to see how the magic is done, you should see backstage. It's not glamorous--true--but it is interesting nonetheless. If you don't want to see the work it takes to make the magic real, don't go--ever.

But for those of us that revel in the effort it takes to make the magic real, it's better than the park itself.

Never really been "Backstage" as Dl other than once when I was on Haunted Mansion, and I had to use a wheelchair due to knee surgery, they took us off the ride by letting the Doom Buggie go back to the boarding area and then being in the stretching room and watching it "shrink"

The only real "back stage" I been to was the Herbie: Fully Loaded premiere

Yes, many times. Of course, I worked there for almost eight years and was a backstage employee. I would have to agree that it really isn't anything all that special to look at, but maybe I got jaded a bit -

And as I've said many times before, for every CM you see there are at least two others backstage that you never see, helping to create the "magic".

I was actually reeeeeeeally tempted to Sunday. Was so close, seemed so easy to pop over... didn't. Wouldn't. Was surprised that the manager who came around the fence didn't tell us to get further away.
                    Good morning, son
                    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
                    It was pain
                    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

                      Re: Ever go backstage...

I had the honor of getting kicked out of Disneyland when I was 18. I was with a group of 5 guys and one of them decided to drink Goldschlager(sp?)before going into the park. This kid was 5'4" and could not have been over 145 and the liquor got the better of him. He was such a jacka$$ so I was not suprised to see security after getting off Star Tours. I was completely embarassed to be with him. Funny part was he tried to run and security grabbed him in 2 steps....I still get a laugh out of that. Anyway, they took us back to "Mickey-Jail," took statements from us, then escorted us to the front gate. The holding area was an open seating area(meaning 4 walls but they didn't go to the ceiling) with an unlocked door that buzzed an alarm if we tried to leave. We were all sitting in there yelling at the drunk friend and Disney people would come over and ask us to be quiet cause they were trying to work. Too bad we weren't hanging out with Lindsay Lohan....Disney might have turned a blind eye.

It is pretty boring actually...it is pretty cool when you get to see inside of the rides, like Space Mountain. That's the cool backstage part

The only time I have been backstage was when I broke down on Splash. We were stopped right before the final lift and had to be escorted around the backside of the show building. Nothing special, but it was cool to see the anamatronics up close.

I've never done it, but been tempted for one quick backstage look. It's at the exit to Space Mountain by the restrooms, and covered with curtains. I just want to hop back there for a few seconds, to take a picture of Space Mountain from a little different angle than the usual ones.

I would love to take one of the "official" tours, as it would be embarrassing (and a bad example to my kids) to get kicked out the part in front of my family.

I don't know if this really counts as backstage, but one when I was leaving the park after fireworks they opened a gate and allowed the crowd to walk behind Main Street on the Adventure Land side. It was kind of cool. You could see all of the Jungle Cruise boats parked off to the side, but mostly it was just dumpsters and break areas and what not. We walked all the way down and came out near the Fire Station (I think).
