  • Will they ever use Big Thunder Ranch & Festival Arena again?

It kills me that that area is unused!

Both areas are actually used quite often for special events and private parties.

I'm sure if Frontierland ever gets it retheme, they'll put something in there.

Go to the MC Dessert Pary & you can use the Festival Arena!!

Actually, they use the Big Thunder Ranch area for the petting zoo now. It's name was changed to "Little Patch of Heaven" for a brief while.

Last year, they moved Santa from his spot on Main Street to the Big Thunder Ranch and had reindeer where the goats usually are. They also had crafts & a small show going on. It was a great use of the space, IMO! Much better than being crammed in on Main Street where the pictures were always backlit anyway!

The Thunder Ranch Barbecue used to be my favorite restaurant.

It's certainly a ripe space for a major attraction addition sometime in the future.

                      Sounds like a bird sanctuary...

That area shows that even in a crammed full space as Disneyland, there are spaces that are very poorly used. Yes, it is used for special parties, a petting zoo and Santa at Christmas time, but let's be honest... That space could be used SO much better.

I loved that Thunder Ranch Restaurant too. It needed better management to make money. It died not because of a lack of popularity but because they wasted so much meat because of poor management. That space could be built as an indoor wester themed restaurant. It could be the new home to Country Bear Jamboree. It could be a new ride all together. But putting turkeys there is a waste of space! (As if people want to pet a turkey on vacation!)

I don't remember where, but I read they were gonna be having some sort of Halloween thing over there.

If they use this area for a new attraction, they wont have any space for private parties and special events. DL, unlike WDW, is running out of space and areas like this help when they need to do special things.

If they put an attraction in here, where would they of sold the "Day of" pins on July 17th? The hats on New years?

interesting that this topic comes up right now. i was at the park last weekend with my girlfriend and she insisted we go to the petting zoo. i never even knew it was there and it was so cute. those little goats are unbelievable. even though she used maggie the cow as another chance to nag me about not being a vegetarian, it was still lots of fun. so don't go knockin' the petting zoo. it's small and kinda hidden.... but that's the charm. on a weekend that was packed to the gills with pirates fans and such, it was a nice change of pace.

lastly, off topic, the grand californian rocks. just had to add that in.
