  • Disneyland Photo Update for Week of May 2nd 2005

The Disneyland Resort has been spit-polished and is just about ready to go for the big 50th anniversary celebration. "Tiny" improvements are still being made to Storybook Land and something "Gnu" is still getting into the Jungle Cruise. But all will soon be unwrapped and back in business (Space Mountain pending).

Here are a few pictures that I took on Sunday, May 1st. (A big group of Mice Chatters were with me, and I hope they will post their photos here for you as well!).

Nostalgia is taking over the resort. The shops on Main Street are featuring photos of the park as it has looked through the years:

    Retro inspired clothing:

Even Innoventions is getting into the nostalgia act. Banners have been installed which feature Tomorrowland attractions through the years:

A giant web has been added to the front of the Haunted Mansion:

The problem with the Splach Mountain logs seems to have been fixed. The logs are now being loaded with passengers in the back seat:

Plaza Pavilion now sports a Disney Vacation Club booth:

as well as a fleet of pin carts (3 that I counted):

The photo murals are everywhere along with their "hidden" Mickey 50th anniversary signs. This new one is next to Small World (insets show a close-up and a super close-up)

As the 50th celebration approaches, the media has started to decend. I've never received as many emails from the media as I have in the past month. An Austrialian television program held a castle shoot (amoung others) on Sunday:

Those are my photos, where are yours?

If you look at the back of the log, you'll see some seams in the woodwork. Perhaps they cut off sections of the back of the log on either side and modified them so that the logs wouldn't get stuck.

          Great photos Dusty!

I missed you guys today. I was in the park, and at a lot of the places where you were, but I guess we just missed each other!

I took a picture of the Monster's Inc. ride progression... I'd send it from my phone if it didn't COST $0.25... I need to get that unlimited PIX messaging stuff!

I know I've said this before, but I can't get over how quickly things are happening these past few weeks...
Also, is there a purpose to the giant web over HM? It looks kinda tacky...

Someone said that it might be for a 50th mickey...I think that web looks like it came from some Halloween outlet store.

I love how in the photos shown on Main Street, everything is black and white except for things that are Red, Blue, and Gold, the colors of the 50th. Neat!
