  • Oogie Proudly Presents... Pictures of Main St, 1970's

Here's some more treasures from my archive of slides and pictures. Again, please ignore the redness in the images as the slides have been deteriorating over the past 30 years. Enjoy.

    Growing up is however, optional

Now that Dragon in the Main Street Electrical Parade is cool! Would love to see that return! Thanks Oogie.

We had a barbershop quartet that didn't look like Power Rangers and we LIKED IT!

          Wonderful memories, thanks!

I was struck by how "out of theme" that ugly GAF logo looks over the Main St photo shop. I guess there have always been compromises made where theme and sponsorship are concerened.

PS: A little Photoshop will get the red out.

What fun pictures! It is interesting to see what the characters looked like back then, a little crazy in my opinion.

            Thanks for sharing Oogie!

Re: Oogie Proudly Presents... Pictures of Main St, 1970's

Seeing the gaf of the 70s is rather sad... They were so big in film back then! Now, they do roofing.

I'm sure gaf (also known as GAF) produced these slides... during the 70s, gaf was in a transition from using Kodachrome on all of their products. Thus, a lot of experimentations on getting good slide film started happening and the slides from this era of gaf was even worse than most slide film.

Oogie, first, great shots, and thanks.

Second, I tried doing a color fix on one (using MS DIP Pro), and they didn't look too bad. You might want to give it a try, or if you want, PM me, and I'd be happy to whip through them for you.

:yea: Once again, you have brought wonderful photos from the past, Oogie! Thank you for sharing these greate photos! I actually have four of the old MSEP slides from Gaf but have never seen the caliope/hippo unit in that form before. I also have a 1977 DL guidebook, hosted by GAF before the Polaroid changeover and it gives tips about taking good pictures and Super 8mm movies, lol! Thanks for those great pics!

Thanks for sharing! I like to see pics when people dressed nicely for the parks, like it was a special event... The things people wear nowadays can really turn me off... but that's another thread! Thanks again!

Great shots again, Oogie. I need to spread some republicans around but I definitely owe you some. I WISH my parents had taken more pictures during this era. All we have is a short Super 8 clip from the same time period.

And by the way, I LOVE the red tint. It makes me very nostalgic as a huge chunk of my famility photos have the same look.

                              Keep them coming!
