  • Alice Davis And Mary Blain Main Street Windows

Do Alice Davis and Mary Blair have Main Street windows and if so, does anyone know where they are? (and on a side note: If Alice does have one why isn't the window next to Marc's?)

Oooh Oooh! I know this one!

As of the writing of the 50th anniversary update edition of a great book called "Disneyland Detective" the answer is no. The book has almost 30 pages (including a map) with information on all the windows and why they were given the "business" listings they have. Just another reason I love this book. It makes for great times when waiting for the parade or fireworks because it is full of information you would never even know that you didn't know (does that make sense?)

My daughter loves it because it has hidden mickey info in it as well. She was tickled when we rode pirates before the refurb and the barrels at the bottom of the lift at the end were totally a "mickey" to her but they were NOT in the book. It caused much discussion, but we finally decided that SHE may think they were a Mickey, but the book defined a "mickey" as having smaller ears than head, and the barrels were all the same size.

Anyway, more information than you asked for, but I'm good for that!
I love my awesome crazy wonderful friends!!

The answer to Mary Blair is "no" according to this web page:
          http://www.disneylandtoday.com/Legends/mblair.htm

And this one has a list of people who aren't on windows.
          http://www.disneylandtoday.com/Legends/windowsmiss3.htm
This page seems to be about five years old.

Still looking for a list of those who are.

Mark Goldhaber did a multi-part series on the windows of the MK at WDW over at MP. Those are for those contributing to the building of that park.

          update:
          http://www.thedisneyblog.com/tdb/ima...ing/index.html
In the January 25, 2006 entry, it is noted that neither have a window.

Has he contributed to Disneyland in any way?

Sure, he's a "Disney Legend," but that's not all it takes. And there doesn't seem to be enough windows at DL.

A blurb about the book I mentioned above - Disneyland Detective -
an exploration of Disneyland's history, which notes the subtle tributes Walt Disney placed throughout the grounds honoring the people who made the park possible.
                    Sediment said
And there doesn't seem to be enough windows at DL
which made me recall stuff from this book about other ways they honor people at DL. For example, in Adventureland there is a window dedication to honor Harper Goff, and while not put on Main Street, it is "perfectly situated" (irony too as it was Goff that designed many of the buildings on Main Street!!)...

Having said that, I do agree that there are a lot of people in Disney's history that deserve some form of recognition like a window.

Re: Alice Davis And Mary Blain Main Street Windows

I'm glad you posted this thread, Uzmati. Mary Blair and Alice Davis contributed in so many ways for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. It's pretty outrageous that they haven't been honored with windows.

I wonder if there's a way to petition for it? I guess we could either leave messages at City Hall or contact the suits directly at TDA.

I guess you're right. I mean, obviously, Mickey Mouse contributes nothing to Disneyland and never has.

seemed odd to me that the empty window right next to Marc Davis' wasn't Alice's. I mean being married and both being Disney legends it seems like such an obvious choice. Yet the window next to Marc's has nothing on it.
