That looks like the spot because it is a few hundred feet west of where the castle would be. And we all know how the fireworks have always been off to the side of the caslte.

I'm not positive, but from this angle it looks like a logical choice.

Stalking is when two people go for a long romantic walk together but only one of them knows about it.

if they do it that close to the buildings, how do they keep em from chatching the buildings on Fire?

Yup, saw them once putting each individual firework in each pipe.

When I was backstage, they warned us of possible firework fallout on the ground. We were told to keep our shoes on at all times. If you look at the large picture provided by dlandfansaz, if you look a little bit to the right and downwards of the fenced in launching area, you'll see a wavy type of overhang. I was there last night, and when I looked up I saw all these burn marks and a couple of large dents caused by falling debris.

The shells have no black powder lift, they use compressed air to launch the shell up and then it simply explodes in the air and usually burns out before coming in contact with the ground or buildings again.

In regards to fire prevention on the roofs, I know at WDW the Fantasyland rooftops are soaked down immediately preceding each show, and I believe after also.

All of the buildings back there are made out of concrete or metal.

I'm sorry that I don't recognize the area shown in your aerial photo. But... watch the fireworks from the parking structure sometime. I was really struck by how much farther north of Disneyland they are shot than where they look like they're shot. It's almost all above the administrative buildings.
