  • VERY EARLY video of Submarine Voyage

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...66641717&hl=en
The guy that runs www.20kride.com put this up on Google. He claims that most of these AAs were taken out due to them breaking down way to often. Some of them I've never seen like that Octopus. And what a great video of the Sea Serpent! Did he move his head around like that later on in the ride? And wow, there is even footage of the mermaids swimming under water! I'm guessing this was a promotional video before the ride was released. (Is that a dog I see in the porthole before the Sea Serpent? :lol

That's the Shaggy Dog from the Disney Movie Franchise!

I remember all those elements from the ride (aside from the live Mermaids doing water dancing).

Are we sure that's not a promo? I'm having trouble believing the mermaids would swim around on the bottom of the lagoon by the submarine like that. And the sea serpent is very animated compared to the head swaying back and forth that it was during my lifetime.

That was from one of the old Disneyland tv shows. They never had sharks swiming around. I am sure most of it is just old promo stuff, I want to say that is from Kodak 59' (now aval on Your Host Walt Disney DVD) but I am not sure. But it is from a old show.

The mermaids were only a short time promo thing - the heavily chlorinated water apparently did horrible things to their skin (and their fins)

Fun video. Definitely seems like a promo video.

As an old-timer, let me comment.

                  1. That was exactly what the sea serpent looked like.

                  2. Yes, they did have sharks swimming in a circle.

                  3. The live mermaids were there until 1967, even overlapping briefly into the New Tomorrowland, although I never remembered seeing them from inside the sub.

I know they had live mermaids in the lagoon my comment was about them swimming underwater like that along side the submarine. it'd be incredibly dangerous and I don't think their eyes could bare the chlorine :P

eye movement not withstanding, didn't the serpent's head just move back and forth like a metronome? :P that video has the whole neck wiggling around.

and movement aside, there's also the angle it's taken from.
