My hubby and I will be celebrating 12 years of marriage this year, and I started thinking about planning something special for our anniversary. What I'd really like to do is to renew our vows at the Haunted Mansion. Anyone else done something similar? I'm gonna need to find an officiant with an annual pass! (seriously, if you are ordained with a pass valid through the end of this year, contact me )

I sort of wanted to keep this a surprise, but I desperately need some input. Thanks!

Will Disneyland even allow that? I'm not sure...

      Re: Disneyland weddings

well, I figured if we were accompanied by a few close friends, we could conduct the ceremony in the queue line. Renewal ceremonies don't have to be as formal as the original... I was going to contact Disney for their official position next week, as I certainly don't want to do anything I'm not supposed to.

I know wedding proposals happen everyday at DL. But wedding vow renewals, that I haven't heard so much! Anyone, anyone?

Well, they don't allow folks to scatter the ashes of loved ones INSIDE the HM, but it does happen...

I would call and ask anonymously about the idea around the HM entrance and see what they say. Just a quick 5 or 10 minute thing shouldn't be too bad.

If they said no, and I really wanted to, I'd do it in a corner somewhere next to something special with it. The backside by the FP machines? Over in the corner next to the ghost horse/hearse?

Or since they allow three per DoomBuggy, the two of you and whoever will give the service while ON THE RIDE! That'd be cool!

          Be creative...

          Good luck!

Oh man, when I finally have a kid, and if that kid is a girl, I am SO taking out a 2nd mortgage on the house to pay for a Disneyland wedding for her, hahahaha.

Well, since I'm currently working with Disneyland Weddings on planning our wedding. I would have to say that it's probably going to get a no from Disney officially unless you work with them, even then in-park events are done after hours. Though, who's to stop you from doing it on the fly while in line as you said.

Bree and I were joking about doing a bandit ceremony on POTC during the 2 year meet when everybody was here. We wanted to take an entire boat and have the ceremony during the battle scene.

                      Re: Disneyland weddings

I've seen one wedding in Disneyland that wasn't after hours. It took place to left of the castle (if you're looking at the front of the castle) on one of the bridges.

thanks for the link akfandisney. I hadn't checked that out before! I also really like the idea of being tucked back in the fast pass queue area. It is so beautiful there.

                        Congratulations on twelve years!

If you truly need an ordained minister to officiate a renewal of vows, the Universal Life Church (ULC) will ordain anyone for free over the Internet. The State of California recognizes marriages which are performed by ULC ministers. In fact, I'm a minister of the ULC, and yes, I have performed marriage ceremonies.

So, talk a friend into getting ordained and have them do the ceremony.

Because the people that worked with him day in and day out didn't know what Walt wanted. Walt didn't know what he wanted 'til he wanted it."

I remember someone posting a few weeks ago about watching someone get married on the Mark Twain. It didn't sound like it was a "Disney sanctioned" wedding. But it sounded great!
