    The Carnation Truck

I've posted this query from time to time with no success. Let me try again. Does anyone know the current whereabouts of the old Carnation delivery truck that used to be a fixture on Main Street?

If it still exists, I want to acquire it.

If you know where it is... whether I am successful in acquiring it or not... there is a bounty for revealing it's location.

This is a piece of Disneyland heritage that I will NOT let go of.

      Where is the Carnation Truck?

Ah yes, the legend of Tom Chaney and the Carnation Truck.

Some folks say that Old Tom is half truck himself, though I'd never bet on it.

Disney doesn't own the concession wagons or in the past 10 years or so. one of my dads friends rents them to them. I don't think he owns the Carnation truck though but haven't seen all his many cars. It may be back stage in some place. I can ask my dad who may know
I was a few minutes away from Hong Kong Disneyland and didn't make it but got this cool picture though

While we're at it, perhaps someone knows the location of the old Global Van Lines truck too.

I could buy that one and then Tom and I could have drag races down Main Street!

I know I harp on this from time to time. When I was a little kid, my dad was very into antique cars. That rubbed off on me. For some reason, that red and white delivery van was just something that I always looked forward to seeing. It's funny how something can resonate so strongly.

Anyway, I miss seeing it. I hope it's quietly resting in some Disney storage area or private garage somewhere... though it's a shame it isn't still on display. I'd just like to know where that is.

...and BTW: the Global Van Lines truck is next!

With the kind assistance of Circarama, have received a reply from Bob Gurr. Sadly, he has no idea what ever happened to the truck.

                  The quest continues.

Have you called the Disney Archives yet? Dave Smith knows where a lot of the bodies are buried...

When you get hold of him, ask about where the Mouseorail went - the Mk.III Red Monorail cab section that was Cut-N-Pasted into a body by a Limo Company and mounted on a truck chassis.

This stuff really deserves to be in an auto museum, preferably one run like the Nethercutt Collection (Work Safe link but WARNING: Turn down the sound before clicking!) where they are all kept in fully operable road-ready condition - You can almost immediately hit the road in any car there, just fill the fuel tank, and a full acetylene bottle on the ones with gas headlamps, check the fluids and tire pressure, and go.

Even if Disney doesn't do full ground-up restorations on the historic vehicles they have, "Operable" is a very nice thing. And it would be a total kick in the pants if they used some of those vehicles for public events like taking their nominees to the Oscars or Emmys.

i think the mouserail became that 3D blueprint monorail in the rocket rods queue. i believe i read it in the "Ask Dave" column in the Disney Magazine. I'm not sure I still have the issue, but let me check to confirm it. Or maybe somebody else knows what i'm talking about

Frankly, I'm betting it is. If I had to stick a pin in a map, I'd choose Glendale. Anyway.... care to share?

Got a nice email from NestleUSA (who purchased Carnation in 1989) reading in part:

In response to your inquiry, we have forwarded your information to the proper department. We will notify you if we find the whereabouts of the Carnation Delivery Truck.
No response yet, however, from Disney.

It's located in the back of Disneyland in the building right next to the Security Entrance at Team Disney Anaheim, the one right next to the parade float building. I've literally seen it in the back, there are several other cars with drapes over them, not sure which ones...But it's there. Not sure on how you will acquire this item without a SWAT team and a tow truck :/
