  • Skyway video nitpicking

    http://www.visionsfantastic.com/visi...ry/skyway.html

If you click that link you can find a Skyway video, by Kevin Yee.

Maybe I am picky--but what is WITH Tomorrowland in that photo? Absoultely nothing besides the Autopia and the Skyway is moving! No submarines, waterfalls or Peoplemover motion...??

Wow, that is awesome. So much I had forgotten about the skyway. It's great to be able to relive it again. Thanks for the link, and thanks for the fantastic video.
As nice as the other parks are, we must always remember that it all began at Disneyland. Disneyland should be the crown jewel in the Disney crown.

When we got the video to watch over on visionsfantastic I'd posted on the irony of it with the peoplemover stalled and the subs i don't think moving. Spoiled the timewarp a little with a reminder of today. If that's the movie I'm thinking of it was the last day of operation for the buckets as well.

Oh yeah..filmed 11/9/94 (final skyway operation day).

It's weird how Tomorrowland is so dead and...THE SUBLAGOON LOOKS UGLY WITHOUT WATERFALLS, and the sandbar is ugly too

Gosh I miss bobbin' along in those skyway buckets. I also miss the older CM with the Yul Brynner looks who worked that attraction. (Does anyone remember him or his name??) That was a terrific video - Thanks for posting that!

            The music was especially awesome

A few of the still pics were too wide and fat, but otherwise, it was a nice video.

Man, the sublagoon is darn ugly without waterfalls and that sandbar makes it look dirty

That was a wonderful piece of nostalgia. A lot of memories flooded back watching it. I'll never understand why it was removed. I know what they said. I still don't understand.

It's cool how the Matterhorn is kinda the portal between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.

                      interesting video

I'd still say the Skyway is an eyesore from the ground and the views from the air are a mixed bag

obviously the open air rides/areas look great (casey jr/storybook boats and Autopia/Sublagoon)

however on the other side seeing the upper area of the fantasyland rides is pretty bad also puts the castle into too much of a perspective and the tops of the tomorrowland buildings are pretty ugly too

the matterhorn synergy is decent but still not too big a deal

all in all I can't say that I'm sad it's gone

I perfered the Peoplemover for views and such and it provided a more interesting tour and matched the theming better

I've never thought of the Skyway as an eyesore. I've always thought it looked good up there. The roofs of the Fantasy Land dark rides are a little tacky, but for the rest of the views you could get up in those buckets, a small price to pay. I wish they were back.

The castle put into perspective never seemed an issue for anyone. It was the matterhorn that's always been the skyline piece for disneyland that nothing's supposed to be higher than. It's really been despectacled with everything around disneyland getting more cluttered and taller to the point you don't see the matterhorn from the freeway in the distance as you're making your way to the park(you can still see it right at the couple of disneyland exits but it's not a skyline piece anymore really).

Oh man, that was really exciting to see the Yeti like that again. We usually took the Tomorrowland-Fantasyland side because I couldn't handle being that close to him.
