A word of advice on the free wine seminars. They start giving out the tickets and wristbands about 40 minutes before the event is due to start. Try and get there around then. It is popular, and people we spoke to Sunday had arrived one half hour early and were too late for tickets.

And the "Taste of California" Marketplace is only open so late. Of course, I didn't check and see what time it was, but it seemed pretty early when the CM said they were already closed for the day
      Good morning, son
      In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
      It was pain
      Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

The brochure says the marketplace (i.e., food offerings) closes at 7pm.

The quesadilla was terrific, as was the cheddar soup. The soup seemed like a bigger serving this year. Same roll-sized bread boules, but more of the bread seemed to have been scooped out, so there was more room for soup. I really hope they add both items to a menu somewhere.

The beef and chicken skewers were ok, but I think I liked it better last year. The artichoke was quite tasty. I didn't think the fish was as good as last year either. And as I expected, the couscous didn't do anything for me. The husband finished most of it by himself. I had the two big pieces of lettuce at the bottom.

I found the cheese plate to be disappointing. Didn't care for two of the cheeses they had, and I didn't care for the drizzle of honey.

The two desserts were quite tasty.

I was disappointed that there wasn't any wine that I was interested in this year.

There's also different/less merchandise than last year. They have a nice cheese board with implements, but it was more than I wanted to pay for. They also have a pin this year, but no t-shirt or embroidered apron like they had last year.

Folks, the wine reception was AMAZING. They do these on Saturday nights on the terrace to the side of the Trattoria. Huge selection of wines, great hors devours, beautiful ambiance, and a great view of the Main Street California Electrical Parade to cap off the evening.

Also, many of us are going to a special pass holder only event this coming Saturday called "Taste". Join us, won't you? Tickets are going fast, so book online today:

The DCA Food and Wine Festival is a rare treat. We hope to see you all at these wonderful events and look forward to watching this event grow in the future!

If you get an opportunity to make any of the winemakers dinner, DO IT.
We did the BV Winemakers dinner this past friday and it was fantastic! Absolutely fantastic. The wines were superb, the food amazing. I brought home the menu, when I finally unpack I'll post it

Has anyone else been given the on line survey card for the Festival? Its the first time Disney has offered to pay me ($10) to complete a survey about an event.
Loved the food, by the way......

Yep. A manager-type CM was walking around the tables and giving them out. I got one last year as well, but they were randomly giving them out at the cashier lines where you bought the food.

I wish We'll be up near Bear Valley for Mother's Day.

Here's the menu from the dinner I attended

                            Beaulieu Vineyards
                            First Course
Dungeness Crab and vine ripened tomato salad-absolutely delicious!
B.V. Reserve Chardonnay, Carneros Napa Valley 2004-not a chard fan

                            Second Course
Duck confit with morels and bloomsdale spinach encrusted puff pastry-so good! There was also a cherry sauce on the side that complimented the wine perfectly
B.V. Reserve Pinot noir, Carneros Napa Valley 2004-this was my favorite and my daddy bought me a bottle

                            Third Course
Ribeye medallion seasoned with Steakhouse 55 signature rub, Dauphinois potato and ronde de nice squash-omg unbelieve! The potato dish, to die for
B.V. Reserve Georges De Latour, Private Reserve, Napa Valley 2003-so amazing. My dad got a bottle of this one

                            Fourth Course
Poached pear with mascarpone ice cream-I was so full and I'm not a pear fan but I tried it and omg, foodgasm on a plate, absolutely delicious.
B.V. fortified muscat- not normally a fan of muscat, too sweet for me, but it was tasty and went perfect with the dessert.

The chef, Jason Martin, came out between each course and described, in detail the preperation with each one. He was personable, witty and a genious in the kitchen. This meal made me want to visit Steakhouse 55 much more often. I highly recommend the winemakers dinner!

Sorry that there are no food pictures but
                            1. It was too good to worry about taking pictures
                            2. After about the 2nd course with all that wine the pictures would have been extremely out of focus!
