  • Actual Hollywood Tower Hotel!

I was just thinking, would'nt it be cool if they made an actual Holly Wood Tower Hotel! It would be so awesome but not the spooky version. Like how it was before it entered the twilight zone! It would proabably look weird looking at two of the same exteriors so close to each other so proabably change the exterior a little bit. Anyways, just a thought.
Putting the um in forum. Um...

    Hollywood Tower Hotel actually exists!!!

There really is a Hollywood Tower Hotel.

It is right next to the Hollywood Freeway--north side--in Hollywood.

Yeah, I don't believe you never heard of the hotel. We pass it all the time going up to Hollywood or on the way to Universal Studios. Its rumored that its haunted as well.

Yeah, Disney made it years ago so his little train would go through it. It's not as big as the one in Florida.

No, Cousin Orivle, there really is a hotel by that name right off the Hollywood Freeway. It is not as big as either of Disney's Theme Park, but it is very old and very classy looking in a decadent sort of old time thing way. It's neat. I have been there, seen it and been inside the lobby. It is really neat.

When Disney was in the planning stages for DCA's Tower of Terror, there was a lot of talk about a Hollywood Tower Hotel. The rumor was that ToT would actually be at one end of this real hotel, and connected to it. Should this have occured, it would have been built inside the park..

I live about 5 minutes from the real Hollywood Tower on Franklin Ave. in Hollywood. I don't think it was ever actually a hotel... it was an apartment building; now I think it's a co-op (or possibly condos).

I think it's safe to say that we now know where the Imagineers got their design influence for the first Tower.

Those triangular roof elements sure do look semi-familiar to Florida and that sign is a dead-ringer...forgive the pun, but we are dealing with ToT here.

Here is the sign for the real Hollywood Tower:

And the original Disney Tower of Terror:

I've been on TOT in WDW but honestly don't remember the design of it. If you drive around Hollywood, you will notice that a lot of buildings that are similar in design to the Hollywood Hotel (real one) but that was just the style during that time period.

There were actual plans by WDW back in the early 1990s to make the original Tower of Terror part hotel--the entire place would have had the eerie theme to it (which I think would have been very kewl!) and the ride would have been on the part of the building inside MGM. There is concept art somewhere for this, if you look around. It was, of course, scrapped so they could spend money on just making an out of this world attraction (the final product is much larger than it would have been had the real hotel been attached).
