  • New Criteria for Modern Ride Designers

    There's only so much money and space and building rides underground and over each other is way too expensive and requires a big picture view that hasn't been seen since Walt's day.

    It's very important that the guests know the entire story of the ride. It's best to base it off a popular movie. Guests don't like surprises and mostly don't read. Those that do read likely move their lips and thus would be impressed by characters which can talk without moving theirs.

    Today one must use vast amounts of the budget for the exit store, as well as the character meet and greet area, stroller parking, and of course, the fast pass machines. One must also include the separate entrance for those fast passers. The meet and greet area should be as obvious and as out of place as possible because budget cuts will keep it mostly unstaffed. Guests and characters don't like to wonder around a richly themed area, they just want to take a formula picture that only looks good from the exact right angle.

    The ride itself isn't too important. Think speedramp into an Ikea warehouse. Oh wait, don't think speedramp. They are too expensive to maintain.

      I just would like real creativity and imagination in Disney, again.

      The recently-cited Bloomberg article with the analyst commenting that Disney should probably have more attractions based on Pixar movies shows the reason creative decisions should be made by artists, instead of businesspeople.

          There's only one solution.

          They should hire me to head up WDI.

          And while I'm dreaming I'd like a 2 billion dollars so I can buy a decent car.
