  • Monster Inc. Mike and Sculley to the Rescue. Why isn't there more hate?

There doesn't seem to be any hate around here for this ride. I rode it during soft opening in December 2005. I like all the Fantasyland dark rides (love Toad and Alice), and Roger Rabitt, but I see nothing good in this Monsters Inc. ride. While the other dark rides capture moods and atmospeheres, Monsters Inc. is just a really really really slow taxi ride. Granted, I belive not everything was working on my 2 rides through MI,but I felt that nothing happened the entire time. Even Pooh is better. I have heard of the Abondinable(sp) Snowman showing up, and I didn't see him on my ride throughs. Why is there so much hate for Pooh, but not for the far worse Monster Inc. Mike and Sculley to the Rescue?

What's to hate? It's cute. The characters are 3D AA's. It follows the storyline of the movie and has decent special effects (Randall).

      I like it.

I really cannot hate this ride. I also think it is a cute family ride. I know that the cars move slowly, but they have to move slowly to allow scenes to develop. I wish that the characters really had their mouths moving, but the imagineers had a limited budget. Monsters has great scenes that capture the movie well compared to Pooh which has nothing innovative to that ride. The magic of Pooh is missing compared to the wonder of the original story. When we know that Pooh has been done so much better other places, like at WDW and Tokyo DL, we know that we got shorted.

Oh yes, I thought I might not like it but after riding it once we loved it, and my sister is a real cynical rider, so she was the measuring stick. And she loved it.

It's very cute, the door scene especially. It does very well capturing the feeling of Monstropolis, it's only be better of course if they did more movement.

If you despise Monsters Inc, I'd say you've got at least one significant ally in DaddyB. Look at his comments with his photo spread of the ride when it was new. He thought it was pretty slid-shod: http://www.visionsfantastic.org/dadd..._16_Update.htm

The door scene gets me everytime!
And Boo singing in the bathroom!
And I love the smells in the restaurant.
                    It's a fun little ride.

Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
                    It was pain
                    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

The reason for the lack of hate is that Monster's Inc. is the only dark ride that DCA has and it is infinitly better than SuperStar Limo, which did, for the record, take a lot of criticism. It was much needed, and I think it is way better than say Snow White, Pinocchio, or even Alice. It definitely is up there with Mr. Toad, Peter Pan, and RRCtS.

Because hating a ride is a pointless waste of time? And it is a cute fun dark ride for kids.

If your old enough to post here your not the target audience, get over it!!!

If it is only for kids, then it is not a Disney attraction. A Disney attraction is something that both adults and kids can enjoy.

Then Disney has succeeded! Both kids and adults do enjoy this ride...
