    "Tomorrowland 2055"

The first Idea that the Imagineers had for a 'New Tomorrowland' for Disneyland was Tomorrowland 2055. Bruce Gordon and Tony Baxter (of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad fame) were to champion this grand rethemeing. It would be set in Disneyland in 2055. A time when quite of a few extraterrestrials have made the trek to Anaheim and have set up shop in Tomorrowland.
Many buildings would be redone, to match the new theme, such as what used to be the Carousel of Progress. Which would be a full-sized flying saucer that's reminiscent of the Mother Ship from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." After walking up a gangplank, you could sample "Plectu's Fantastic Intergalactic Review.", an animatronic show. The aliens included this flying circus' three-armed ringmaster, P.T. Quantum, as well as some giant swamp creature that rose out of the muck and sang operatic arias with its multiple mouths.
Overhead, glistening steel catwalks would allow guests to access to a whole new level of Tomorrowland shops and restaurants. On the ground, mysterious crystalline shapes that glowed brightly and unusually shaped plants would have given this side of the park a truly unusual feel.
Also, Tomorrowland 2055 would be where The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter was originally planned to debut. An attraction that was then thought of as a franchise attraction, being at every Disneyland-style theme park. It would be situated in a building with a roof that appeared to be held up by statues of X.S, Tech employees.
"Tomorrowland 2055" would have become an elaborate showplace at Disneyland. It could have set a whole new standard for theming and storytelling at the Anaheim park by taking guests on a fantastic trip to the future. But all of this was stopped by Disney CEO Michael Eisner, who reportedly never truly wanted to build 'Plectu', because Animatronic-heavy shows like this are expensive to build and difficult to maintain. In meetings where the Walt Disney Imagineers would try and present to him various versions of the show, Eisner would allegedly say things like "A revolving theater full of singing aliens? How is that different from what they've got at Chuck E. Cheese? We need a better idea for this show."
Another reason we should all hate Micheal Eisner. But hey look!! Tony Baxtor was planned to lead that. And to be honest with you. It sounds really cool!!!!! I think now that Tony is in charge of Disneyland, there will be hopes of this returning!!!

I tend to agree with the statement "A revolving theater full of singing aliens? How is that different from what they've got at Chuck E. Cheese? We need a better idea for this show." Even though I don't agree with his general sentiment.

I'm all for a new and better overall imagineering of TL, but not an ET cash-in, it's just no longer relevant to "the kids".

(PS: I too just read that on Wikipedia in the past hour lol, stop following me!)
    Disney FAQ#275: What is DCA?
DCA stands for Disney Construction Area. All the Cast Members are themed with hard hats and steel toed boots.

Whats not relevant to today's audience about aliens? Last I checked there are quite a few big budget alien movies being made right now. I would LOVE an alien takeover of Tomorrowland.

I don't get how that is Tomorrowland 2055 as much as it is Alienland or Sci-Fi Land.

There could be aliens in the future. Plus we have to admit that the whole "future of the world" theme is now officially dead. Why not get creative now.

                A theater with singing characters?

It seemed to work well enough for the Carousel of Progress. And America Sings. And the Country Bear Jamboree. And the Enchanted Tiki Room. And Pirates of the Caribbean. And the Haunted Mansion. And Splash Mountain. And "it's a small world."

But no, you're right. It's the same as Chuck E. Cheese's. Scrap it. Put in a Best Buy.

For once I'm actually going to agree with Eisner in how bad this idea is. I mean, come on-- singing aliens? What are they going to sing? And truthfully, you could argue that aliens are from the past from the Roswell-era hype.

^ Look at MK's Tomorrowland. It is themed (or it was before Pixar screwed everything up) to the Jules Verne/Orson Wells vision of the future, not today's. DL's version was supposed to get something around the same or better (try Hong Kong's TL mixed with both DLP's version and MK's version).

I do admit though, the singing alien thing is retarded.

This idea totally turns me off. It souns too much like Men in Black or something, and I hated those aliens.

But it would be nice for a Tomorrowland update.

I think you mean H.G. Wells. Orson Wells was a Director from the 1930s. HG Wells created the Time Machine, and War of the Worlds and other fun books back in the day.

Also MK's Tommorowland isn't themed to Jules Verne... Disneyland Paris's theme was themed to Jules Verne and heavily. I remember during the original planning and concept making that the whole park was going to be Jules Verne Themed.
