  • Guests Allowed to Give CM's a Thank You?

I had an idea for my little guy's first visit, and I wanted to make sure it was within the guidelines...

If my son is treated nicely (I'm sure by everyone!), could he give a CM a little card (about business card sized) that says something to the effect of "Thank you for making my first visit to Disneyland so magical" ?

    Yes, no, thoughts...

        unfortunately no.

it would be counted techincally as a "gift" which CM's are trained to not recieve.
((it took me a while to get used to accepting tips at my hotel job after i quit the resort =] ))

the best thing to do would be to leave them a HUGE compliment at City Hall or Guest Relations in DCA. make sure you get his name, the time and the location where the CM was.

if they were in transit from land to land, describe the outfit to the plaid. they might be wearing overalls and accidently be walking through Fantasyland ya know?

Thanks for the advice. I had a feeling it might be construed as a gift, that's why I thought I'd better ask. I'll be sure to keep a notepad with me to jot down names, etc...

I'd say, offering it to them three times and if they "no", offer to them another time and see what happens.

Not really - if it's a handmade thank you note, then it doesn't have a cash value and it is not a tip or gift. It's a thank you. I have been given items almost exactly like this before - just a little picture of the family with "Thanks for making my day so magical!" on it. I took it backstage and pinned it to our bulletin board and it's still there.

If you are still concerned about whether or not it's OK, just send it later through guest communications. All you have to do is take a notepad with you to the park and whenever you come into contact with someone you'd want to give a thank you to, simply write down the CMs first name, their location (or if it's someone working a parade/fireworks/fantasmic guest control shift, write down what kind of costume they had) and the time of day you ran into them. Then when you get home, contact guest com. and send them the thank yous with the list of the CMs you want to get them. They can track down the CMs and make sure they get them, and that way they've gone through the proper channels.

It sounds nice, but other than making the CM feel good its not going to help them out in the long run.

Complimenting them at City Hall is the best way to thank a CM and give them the support that they need to further increase their successs with a career at Disney.

Off to City Hall it is!

Cripes, you'd think I've never been to DL the way I'm so excited about this trip. I guess seeing it through the eyes of child makes all the difference in the world.

Yes you may give a Cast Member a card like that. Cast Members are trained to say no four times to cash valued items, in this case this is not the case. If your stay was as magical I would suggest to also give them a good note at City Hall, but a little note gives them that magic right then and there.

So if I ask a CM a question 3 times, they have to tell me the truth?
