  • I know what I want! (50th)

Barring some amazing piece of 50th merchandise that I absolutely cannot live without, I have decided that my big purchase on Sunday will be something I've wanted for a very long time.

    A Brick.

I love the bricks with the 50th medallion in it, and I've wanted a brick for some time now anyway. The 50th is especially important to me because my father and grandmother were there on opening day, so I think it would be a really special time to purchase my brick.

I'm totally stoked on this idea now. I should have bought the brick back when I was a CM and could have gotten the CM-exclusive Mickey in profile image, but now I'm glad I waited for a special occasion.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

Is anybody else planning a major purchase for the 50th? What?

Kat: if they allow multiples, can ya pick one up for me, pretty please???

That is, as long as it's less than $15.

How long are the bricks good for? Is there a chance that they could be removed if DLR remodeled?

Puhleaze.... everything with Disney is "subject to change without notice". However, can you imagine the uproar? At least it's likely to be there when I have kids in the next decade. I would hope it would be there 50 years from now, but I don't know.

I have had the brick booklet sitting on my desk for months now.

Sponsor agrees that the stone may be permanently removed. If the stone is permanently removed prior to or on the tenth anniversary of its sponsorship, Sponsor's only right or remedy shall be to receive a refund of the sponsorship fee. If the stone is removed after the tenth anniversary of its sponsorship, sponsor shall not be entitled to any rights or remedies for such removal inclusing, but not limited to, no rights to monetary damages or to require that the stone or the walkway be maintained, repaired, replaced, removed, or relocated.
Basically they don't make any promises about how long it will be there.

                    dq: what's the price?

Also, it's early enough in the existence of the stones (eg: they're still in front of the entrance) that I think the stones will be fairly safe for a long time. Now, if they extended halfway down DTD, they'd be in a lot more jeopardy. That's my feeling on the topic.

The stone is 150.00- 10% off if you have an AP. They also sell acrylic and wooden replicas of your brick for $35.00.

I also agree that they are probably safe- all the legal mumbo jumbo is to protect themselves in case they ever need to take them out and move them or something like that. Unless they drastically change the layout of the resort, there is nothing else I could see them putting there.

Uh oh... I hadn't planned on $150. It was going to be stretching resources for $100.

                        DAMN.

Guess I'll have to wait till I can track down a 3-yr+ CM.

I know what you mean- I wanted to get one so I could see it when I go in September, but just haven't been able to part with the cash yet.

But you have 18 months to get one with the 50th medallion, so if you save you pennies, you should be able to get one.

Yeah... won't be the same though, will it?

Of course I'll still do it, it'll just be that teeny bit less meaningful.
