Re: 10-20-07 Report- a little late, but here it is
Sailing Ship Columbia looking all pretty
Paddle harder, I say! Harder!!
After Pirates, my friends had to leave for a party in Elsinore, so I walked with them to the Main Street Plaza, and stared my now solo trip.
I headed into Tomorrowland to get a FP for Space, and on my way noticed they were having the Star Tours line go through the secondary building. I'd never been inside, so I decided to take a couple pictures.
The Mon-Calamari(sp?) dude inside the Security tower. I thought this was a nice touch. The only thing missing was TSA officers to frisk all the old ladies down, because, you know... they're just so suspicious looking!
Of course, while I was in there, I was imagining what it must have been like when it was Adventure Thru Inner Space.
I next got my Space FP, and then headed into Innoventions, which, strangely enough had the entire lower level blocked off, outside and in. "Crowds" () were being routed up the ramp and the entrance and exit were located upstairs, with CMs posted along the way. Good quality lines had even been laid down, seperating the entrance/exit sides of the walkway (perhaps because they will be there a while?). Once inside, a quick jaunt to the right will bring you to a large empty area, previously the home of the Pioneer exhibit. Walls were up around the whole center of the building, blocking off access to the staircase and downstairs, with this lovely message:
Also, there's a new VMK Center over by the XBOX 360's, next to the Siemen's exhibit:
It actually doesn't look that bad, and (thankfully) doesn't take up much space.
Could Microsoft finally be moving in? IDK. I hope so... sort of.
I left the world of tomorrow and took a ride on the Matterhorn Bobsleds. I was able to snap a shot of the lagoon/cave, over the Nemo crowds, while I was waiting in line for the Matterhorn:
Also thought this shot was nice- at the bottom of the East waterfall:
I decided to go back through Tomorrowland, and take my time doing it. Why? I was blocked off by PoD.
Walking by TL Terrace, I noticed a whole bunch of birdies happily flitting around in a bush. Hard to see here, but they are in there:
While watching the birds, I noticed a wind meter... thingy, up on top of the old Rocket Jets platform. Is this, perhaps, how they determine if wind speeds are too high for the Fireworks (in part, anyways)?? It's the little black thing at the top of the stairs:
After walking around in the Little Green Men store, I decided to cash in on my HMH FP.
That, and more, are up next. Stay tuned for more details.
Re: 10-20-07 Report- a little late, but here it is
On my way over to HMH, I crossed the hub, and snapped a pic of the Castle with the new dreams banners:
And a really pretty shot of the Castle with the Matterhorn:
I went in through Frontierland, taking a few pics along the way:
Right inside the entrance "fort" to Frontierland
The plaque at the foot of the flagpole
Passing by Rancho del Zocalo, I noticed the Mariachi Divas were playing in the little "Zocalo Park", where the "Dia de Los Muertos" setup is. I've always thought Mariachis would be a nice addition to Frontierland, and a much better fit than in Pacific Wharf over in DCA. And you know what? I was right (well, at least I think so ):
I decided I wanted ice cream, so I wandered into the Golden Horseshoe, and enjoyed a Hot Fudge Sundae with some Toll House chocolate chip cookies and, of course, hot fudge. YUMMY!!
I decided to wait it out for the 5:15 Billy Hill show, and had a great seat in the 2nd row. Those guys are so dang funny! I really need to see their show more often. We even had a bit of an unofficial pre-show from the Laughing Stock Co., when they were heading back to their dressing rooms from their show out front, they circled around through the curtains looking for one another. It was really quite comical.
Once that was all said and done, I wandered over to HMH, to discover that the FP line was stretching out well into the walkway. I decided to pass this up for the moment. Instead, I decided to SR Splash again. Weeeee!!! I love that ride.
After said trip through Chickapin Hill, I wandered into Pooh's Hunny Spot to buy a Hunny Pot Krispy for a friend.
After that, I finally gave in and just waited in the looooooooong HMH FP line (which actually took no time at all :blush. Now, I've noticed a nice little wink to the ride's past, but never seen anyone post any pics or vids of it. So, I took a short video of it. It's a small doll in the Attic (that, by the way, smelled strongly of pot... the attic, not the doll ), that looks like the old bride... beating heart, and all. It's tucked away, behind where Constance normally is.
From there, I went back to Fantasyland and went on Casey Jr. (I absolutely love that ride). They were training a couple new CMs, so things were running a little bit slower than normal, but it was still fun. While waiting, I enjoyed a Candied Apple that I had bought over in PHS. Again, another awesome goodie at DL!! (Hey, when I'm at the parks, if I want to snack on something, I get it. That's just the fun of being in the park... not only do you leave your problems behind at the gate, you get to leave your diet there, too. At least, I do. Not that I have a diet, or anything :razz. After that, I went on Snow White's Scary Adventures, and then back over to the Matterhorn. From there I went back over towards Splash, and on the way, decided to watch the fireworks from the RoA. Truly a beautiful sight. I made my way through the post-fireworks crowds, and went through the SB line on Splash, seeing as how it only had a 10 minute wait.
I would like to preface this next part a little bit (which should give you a hint as to what's coming up next...). In short, I've never been on a ride when it 101'ed. AND, Splash Mountain is my favorite ride. That said...
I went on Splash, not knowing anything would be different. I get in the log, we start our journey and everything is going like normal. We start getting close to the first drop, Slippin' Falls, and the "voice of god" comes out of nowhere: "It looks like we're experiencing a bit of a log jam up ahead. Please stay seated with your arms, legs and feet inside the log, and your trip through Splash Mountain should continue momentarily." They repeated this message a couple times, and then again, but that our trip would continue immediately. And immediately it did. We go down the drop, and inside the show building. Not very long after, Brer Rabbit comes over the PA announcing a log jam, blah blah blah... The message repeats itself, and midway is interrupted by a CM on the PA, saying the same thing that BR was saying A little while after that (where Brer Rabbit is on the railroad pump car thing) they announce the same message again, but we stop this time, bumping into the log in front of us that had been stopped, just at the top of the small drop there. We wait for a few minutes, and... the house lights turn on. :yea: :yea: I was literally bouncing in my seat, with all the other people giving me strange looks. Then it was announced that a host or hostess would be by shortly to escort us out. :yea: :yea: I was so excited, I only took one picture before we were escorted out, in which case I was a good guest, and took no pictures, despite me wanting too.
(This pic was taken without flash, to give you an idea of the brightness of the house lights.)
I got to walk past Brer Rabbit and Brer Turtle and a mule. All of which were moving, but without sound. It was a little funny.
We were taken through backstage, in which I saw a recyclables compactor and an advertisement for a Halloween potluck. They were offering re-admit passes, and the CM asked me if I used Single Rider. I replied yes, and he just waved me on, without giving me one. Which is fine, because I'll probably be back in a couple/three weeks, so w/e. I took a trip on Pooh (*snicker*) and walked over towards Indy. I decided to brave the 60 minute wait, which really didn't seem so bad, in all actuality.
The bumps and reactions of the jeep seemed to be finer tuned and rougher. :yea:
I took a ride through the jungle rivers of the world. And, for the sake of protecting the Skip, I won't reveal his name. I mean this in the best way possible. He said a few jokes that I'm sure aren't on the approved jokes list, but were awesome. One of them, at the rhino/pole scene, being: "Oh! There they are. That expedition went into the jungle two weeks ago, and we haven't heard from them since. I told them: 'Never get into an argument with a rhino... they always get their point across in the end.'" Expected, but it's the next joke that followed on the heels of the other one: "With friends like that... who needs an enema?" ... ...  It was so wrong, but SO funny! There were some other good ones, but I'm getting tired of typing.
I went over to TL to use my Space FP, and on the way to Space, I saw Astro Orbitor had very little wait, so I went on it, seeing as how I'd never been on it, given it's usual long line. I went on Space after that, and after that left the park, at 11:40.
I had a lot of fun, and can't wait to go back to the parks. And I hope you weren't bored from reading my report.
Awesome trip report! Great pictures too. I especially like your Castle shot, so pretty! I'm glad you had a great time.
I hope you have a good time when you get out here, what... this weekend? Even with the fires and smoke, etc. I'm sure you'll have a great time! Wish I could meet you, but I won't be back at the Resort for a few weeks, probably. Oh well.
